SUBJECT: RETURN TO PLAY

The Executive of CDFA would like to use this opportunity to acknowledge and thank the
clubs for submitting their amended team registrations.

The Executive held a meeting last night (04 August 2021) and we resolved the following.

The Executive recommends that all FOOTBALL be suspended for the 2021 season and
that we restart in 2022. This will include Coke Cup and all SAFA sanctioned Tournaments.

The reasons for our recommendation are as follows:

 The upward trajectory of the rate of infections, hospitalisation and death

 According to expert medical opinion, the Western Cape Will only reach it’s peak in
September 2021
 Western Cape is currently the epicentre for infections
 The practicality and the strict implementation of Covid Protocols, in line with SAFA
requirements
 The virtually impossible request from SAFA for player indemnity forms
 The ever-decreasing time available to complete the one-round season
 Exposing our members to large numbers for recreational purposes

The above recommendation will be tabled, for consideration, at the next General
Council meeting scheduled for 11th August 2021.

In the interim, until a decision is made on the Executive’s recommendation, the Fixtures
Committee will prepare fixtures for the Super League, Premier League and First
Division(Red Stream) only.

These are the only leagues/divisions for which sufficient teams were registered.

In addition to the above, Coke Play Off fixtures will be circulated shortly – this however
is dependent on the decision of the meeting as alluded to.

We are in the midst of a pandemic which has changed the world and our way of life.
With that said, we need to make extra ordinary decisions and be unafraid of these
decisions.

In the meantime, please stay safe and ensure all the necessary protocols are adhered
to in all our daily activities.
