My understanding in this subject is that criminology may be refer into many

definitions and explanations, but my favorite definition of criminology is according to

republic act 11131 sec. 4, par. 3 Criminology refers to the scientific study of crimes,
criminals, and victims; it also deals with the prevention and solution of crimes
because I believe criminology is not just the study of crimes, criminals and victims it
provides punishment as well that is dealing out with the undesirable or negative
behavior of an individual in a society, the purpose of this study is to protect society
from the criminal and the criminal from themselves. And one of the purpose of
studying criminology is to understand crimes and criminals which are basic to
knowing the actions to be done to prevent them. Because in order to prevent crime we
should study first how the crime is being committed and why criminals committing it.
And I’ve been aware of the types of criminal by Raffaele Garofalo, before I thought
that there is just one type of criminal and it is what we called murderer, but in this
subject I have been found out that aside from murderer there is violent criminal,
which is these criminals lacks pity and can be influenced by environmental
factors such as the influence of alcohol or population, deficient criminals are those
criminals who commits crime against property like thieves and robbers, lascivious
criminal are those who commits crime against chastity like acts of lasciviousness,
seduction, adultery and the like. And law can be divided into substantive law and civil
law. Substantive law is the literal substance or body of the law which governs
individuals on how to behave and it also describe our rights as citizens and in the field
of criminal cases this governs if the offender is guilty or not. This law define crimes
and set for punishment while the civil law it resolve disputes and repay those who
have been injured as a result of the actions or omission on the part of someone else. I
also comprehended that crime can be committed into two ways, first is the action or
commission this type of crime has bodily movement and you performed something.
Second is crime by means of omission or doing nothing, I just found out that you can
commit crime just by doing nothing like abandoning a dying person
