Wind-Powered Turbine

Generator
Marasigan, Gary Kenp A.

Introduction

Wind energy is crucial to the development of an ecologically viable, low-carbon

economy. This chapter provides an overview of wind turbine generating technology and
analyzes the benefits and cons of using wind energy.

Wind turbines work on a straightforward basis. Wind energy moves two or three
propeller-like blades around a rotor. To generate energy, the rotor is attached to the
main shaft, which spins a generator.

Small wind turbines are employed in both developed and emerging nations,
particularly in rural or isolated environments in both domestic and foreign markets.
Small wind turbines may power cities, companies, schools, clinics, single-family homes,
farms, and a variety of equipment. Small wind turbines can be designed to fulfill the
requirements of both domestic and foreign markets.

Rationale

This desire for high dependability and low maintenance is principally driven by
the necessity to have operational wind turbine systems in distant or emerging places all
over the world. Small wind turbines, as opposed to utility grade turbines, are often
offered in small groups or as stand-alone installations. Because turbines are not co-
located, this raises maintenance expenses. Maintenance might entail a skilled wind
smith traveling the region to maintain a few or one wind turbine system. As the
location's remoteness rises, so does the sensitivity to high dependability and low
maintenance.
The Small Wind Turbine project will allow the economy to cut the costs of
exporting coal and other required materials used in generators to create energy, as well
as the quantity of carbon emissions caused by power plants. Modern wind turbines are
dependable, quiet, cost-effective, and economically competitive, using established and
mature wind turbine technology. Right now,  wind turbine size, transmission system,
power storage, energy consumption, stability of the system, and flexibility are all
technical issues.
