Introduction
Meso and micro power generation
Recently, receives a lot of
attention. Why?
scarcity of energy resources & the invention of
sophisticated electronic devices

Hydrocarbon fuels are potential

alternatives to batteries
Even with only 10% conversion
efficiency, the energy harvested is 10
times than the most advanced
batteries

in Energy and Combustion Science. 2012;38:321-59
Introduction
Micro combustor is the most important component
in micro power generation
Problem
difficulty in stabilizing the flame due to large heat
losses
backward facing excess flame holder
step enthalpy

15
Conclusions
1. Effective approaches in enhancing the combustion
stability have been demonstrated
2. The positive effect of pre-heating on the reactants is
significant
3. Higher flame stabilisation limits with a notable reduction
of combustion efficiency can be achieved by
increasing the wall thermal conductivity
4. Both increase of combustion stability and efficiency
can be obtained by recirculating the exhaust gas
