Conversion to Islam: Hazrat Ali was amongst the first people to accept Islam at
the age of 10 or 11 years, and became one of the most loyal supporters of Prophet
Muhammad. Hazrat Ali was a brave warrior and distinguished himself in all the
battles he fought in the cause of Islam. He shared a camel with the prophet, on the
way to Badr and was one of the three who engaged in single combat before the
main battle started. He was given the Muslim banner at Badr and again at Uhud,
after the original standard-bearer had been martyred. He defended the Prophet at
Uhud, and at the Battle of the Trench (al-Khandaq) he defended his foe in single
combat. His role in Khaybar was well known as the Battle of Hunayn, in which
once he defended the Prophet from harm, and at Fadak and Yemen are significant.
He was given the title of Asadullah, ‘Lion of God’ by the Prophet. His services for
Islam are notable and well respected. He was a faithful believer of Allah who
would even sacrifice his own life for Allah and Islam. <3
