Surface preparation

• Prior to abrasive blast cleaning, the steel surface shall be dry and
free from contamination (oil, grease, corrosion...) or any surface
defects.

• The surface shall be abrasive blast cleaned to:

- Sa 2,5 (ISO 8501-1)
- Roughness Rz between 50 and 100 microns

• Dust after blast cleaning needs to be removed

ENDOPRENE

SHOT-BLASTING

The steel surface shall be

free from contamination by
means of mechanical
abrasive blast cleaning
ENDOPRENE
Grinding
Metal defects, welding spatters and sharp
angles/edges need to be removed.

Installation of the tank

on a rotating unit

Steel supports are welded

on each tank dished-end.
The tank is set on a rotating mandril.

Equipment required to apply Endoprene

Manual or automatic, a two-component hot airless spray equipment is

required to apply Endoprene paints.
Our Technical Departement can help you find out the nearest supplier.
ENDOPRENE
Two-component hot « AIRLESS » spray
equipment required to apply Endoprene
• Product temperature:
- Part A (polyol) 60°C
- Part B (isocyanate) 25°C

• Pump ratio: mini 40/1

ENDOPRENE
Two-component hot « AIRLESS » spray equipment
• Start up the application equipment at least
60 min. before application to allow for the
Endoprene part A to heat up to 30°C.

• Check pressure gauges:

air pressure between 4 to 6 Kg/cm²
ENDOPRENE
Standard conditions of application need to be
checked before the application

• Relative humidity : min. 5% - max. 80%

• Air temperature : min.+5°C - max. 40°C
• Substrate temperature : min. 10°C
max. 40°C*
*(3°C above dew point)

Stripe coats

Application of a stripe
coat over welding
areas and sharp edges
to provide additional
thickness over
critical areas.

The line between the

gun and the mixing unit
should not exceed
3 meters.
ENDOPRENE

Safety regulations

Application in a suitable
paint shop conformed
to health and safety
current regulations with:

- Air extractors or water wall

- Industrial filters
- Paint mask for the painter
ENDOPRENE

Application

While the tank rotates, application of

one coat (several passes wet on wet)
between 500 µ and 1500 µ up to
specifications.

Starting the application from one of

the dished-end towards the other end.
ENDOPRENE

Application process
Ideal surface tank rotation Foward progression with 50%
speed: 24 meters/min overlapping passes, wet on wet.
(3 to 5 rotations per min.)
ENDOPRENE

Application process
• Spraying distance to the tank
surface 20 to 30 cm

Spray gun tip size: 21 to 31/1000 ”

spray angle: 60°
ENDOPRENE

Wet film thickness

Control

Solvent-free product means:

Wet film thickness = Dry film thickness

(800 microns for EU standard)

Wet film gauge
