ABSTRACT

The report is aimed to summarize the functionality of


the 4G Wi-Fi router. The router was found to support
4G and PPPoE protocols.

Test report
1 Introduction
The test was aimed to test the functionality of the given 4G Wireless router. The router to be tested has
the following specifications:

4G support with SIM card slot.

3 ethernet ports, 2 for local network and 1 for wide area network or internet access

12V 1A input power

2 Functionalities
To access the main router settings the 172.16.0.1 address was used, with “admin” as default username
and password.

Upon login, the router system show different Settings and views, mainly: Status, Network Configuration,
Wi-Fi Settings, Flow Assistant, System Management and Setup Wizard.

The following sub-sections describe each setting and/or view in detail.

2.1 Status
Status view displays system’s resources utilization as shown in Figure 2 .1 below. This will display how
many users are connected to the Wi-Fi, how long the Wi-Fi has been running and the local time.

The status view also has user list and black list. The black list shows the list of all blocked devices to
access the internet while the user list displays all devices connected to the Wi-Fi including the blacklisted
ones.

From the user list in Figure 2 .2 it can be seen that the IP/MAC binding can be achieved, which will
reserve the IP for the device’s MAC address. Also toggling Allow Access switch will add/remove a device
into blacklist.

2.2 Network Configuration


This setting allow the router to be configured to the user’s needs. The router have 3 operating modes
4G, Routing, and Access Point modes. In 4G and Routing mode the router has the LAN configuration and
WAN configurations. In LAN configuration, the router can be assigned its network address and
assignment of DHCP IP range. In WAN configuration the router is set to either user 4G, PPPoE or given a
static IP address.

2.2.1 APN Settings


APN settings is also available under network configuration and is used to set the APN of the 4G SIM card.
Figure 2 .7 shows APN settings.

2.3 Wi-Fi Settings
The Wi-Fi settings is used to set SSID, Password, bandwidth and Channel of the Wireless network. Figure
2 .8 shows this screen

2.4 Flow Assistant


Flow assistant is the view that show Wi-Fi data usage. It can be used to monitor how much data is being
used.

2.5 System Management


System management is used to set router settings such as date time. In this setting the router admin
access password can be changed.

2.6 Setup Wizard
Setup wizard is the guided network configuration and they still perform same task as network
configuration
