THE FLAW IN THE DEFINITION OF THE STATEMENT

Judgement comes in various form from different perspective, different manner,

and context. The statement, thou shall not judge others, is wide and vague prohibitive
rule that requires a narrower definition for clear understanding of the concept. If we are
going to examine the statement, the word judge makes the statement flawed since it
gives various interpretations. In my first definition, the term judge refers to an act of
giving evaluation or drawing conclusion from certain action using one’s own way of
thinking. Sa madaling salita, gina bawal niya ang pag judge sa others tungod kay ang
judgement nga gina hatag is extracted from one’s opinion. However, in a more accepted
definition, judgement is a drawn conclusion from logical reasoning with objective
criteria. Therefore, if giving judgement on others’ act is based on norms, then it does
not seek for moral attention hence prohibiting one to render such judgement is useless.
If we are going to forbid people from rendering judgement to others’ action, then are
we just going to tolerate their wrongdoings? Are we going to simply accept others’
faulty reasons and actions just because we are not allowed to judge?

JUDGEMENT IN AESTHETICS, ETIQUTTE, AND TECHNICAL VALUATION

In the context of aesthetics, etiquette, and technical valuation, the judgement is

based on one’s mere opinion or perspective only. Although, this type judgement can be
subjective, we cannot forbid one to give judgements on aesthetics, etiquette, and
technical valuation because everyone has the right to express or give their own opinion
situationally. Some examples of this are in TV programs such as The Voice, America’s
Got Talent, MasterChef, and X-factor where selected professionals are giving judgement
on one’s performance. In this context, giving judgement for the betterment of one
personal skill does not break any moral principles, hence, stopping someone to judge on
others’ form of art, practice, and technique is pointless. Is it okay for you not to be
corrected by your teacher just because they are not allowed to judge your outputs?
Would you agree that you will settle for what you have learned just because people
were not allowed to render their judgement? In this argument, the given statement,
thou shall not judge others, does not meet the gravity of moral standards kay pointless
siya, the adequacy of evidence and reason to support it kay wala ma jud case nganong
need nga ibawal siya, the precedence over other standards kay walay siya angay
hisgutan, and the impartial considerations kay wala may injustice nga nahitabo.

JUDGEMENT IS A TOOL FOR JUSTICE AND LAW

In law, the jurisdiction of the court is an important tool to wrap up and give
justice to certain cases. Most cases require evidence, facts, and logical reasoning during
the evaluation. At the end, the court must release their judgement to close the case
otherwise no justice will be achieved. The necessity of rendering judgement in law is to
prevent others from wrongdoings and to achieve justice. Hence, forbidding people to
render any judgement will make a society full of injustices. Again, are we going to
tolerate others’ wrongdoings just because we are forbidden to render any judgement
and actions towards them? On the other hand, rendering judgement on one’s
personality and beliefs from your own point of view without objectivity is just a fallacy
or false judgement. Kani ang problema sa kadaghan nga mga pinoy, gamay lang nga
action ug problema, tagaan dayun ug dako nga issue. Unya I chismis sa uban and
mukalat hangtod sa maguba ang imahe sang isa ka tao. Rendering judgement on one’s
action is acceptable, but the act of gossiping and false accusations to the extent that it
affects the person’s emotional well-being requires a moral attention. Hence, objective
judgement alone is acceptable but a series of false rumors that may ruin other’s image,
professionalism, and emotional well-being already seeks moral discussions.

THOU SHALL NOT RENDER FAULTY JUDGEMENT OR SPREAD FALSE RUMORS

The statement, thou shall not judge others, can be narrowed down to a specific
action to avoid confusion of the concept. Thou shall not judge others is cannot be
included in the characteristics of moral standards because of its loopholes and vague
definition. Moreover, there is no adequate evidence to support the claim that giving
judgements is morally wrong. There is no injustices or life and death matters included in
an act of giving judgements. Lastly, rendering judgement does not supersedes other
standards and considerations. However, if we are going to narrow down the given
statement, we can say that the revised statement, Thou shall not render faulty
judgement or spread false rumors, is part of moral standards.
