Nona Garcia

Born in Manila on year 1978 she finished her degree in Bachelor of fine Arts in Painting in the University
of the Philippines. In year 2013 Nona relocated to Baguio City, Province of Benguet and establish as her
primaly base from then on she has won many awards like the Philip Morris ASEAN Art Award(2000),
Cultural Center of the Philippines, Thirteen Artist Award (2003) And many more. Below are some the

There are many ways of supporting our local artist from donating or buying their merchandise, attendin
their exhibit to show our support. But as a student we can show our support for local artist by the use of
social media. As we all know social media widespread trend and now a part of most the people so by
utilizing this mass communication platform we easily promote our local artist one the example is the The
woman labeled as the last mambabatok or a traditional tattoo artist Whang-od or also known as Maria
Oggay by used of social media it helps promote the mambabatok tradition not only locally but also
international.
