Speed of Writing
Activity #5
I. OBJECTIVE:
To familiarize oneself with the different paces of writing that can be interpreted in
broad terms of slow, moderate or rapid using the groups of muscles employed in
writing.
II. INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Write two (2) sentences each movement using the group of muscle in writing
using the different paces (slow, moderate & fast).
2. Sentences should be written in a cursive form of writing.
3. Execute different sentences for each writing movement.
4. Write legibly and strictly, no erasures.
III. CONCLUSION:
Writing with a fixed muscle movement is a lot harder that you thought. There is
going to be some strains you will feel on the muscle that is being used. On the finger
movement, you can notice that there is a limited arc of motion you could do since the reach
of the fingers are only short. So, that handwriting is shorter and has limited space, and the
faster you could get to write the closer the writings are. On the hand movement you can
feel stiffness on your wrist, so the writing gets taller and words are thinner as the pace
increases. While on the forearm movement, the words you write will be farther from each
other and larger than the previous ones since the motion is getting larger too. But the
advantage is, it’s not too tiring when you write since the muscle is larger unlike when you
use only your fingers when writing.
Overall, this activity has taught me that if you wanted a better handwriting, you
must only be on the moderate speed and use a combination of the said muscle movements
to avoid dull handwriting and have better results.
