WRITING TASK

CARLOS’ DILEMMA

Think of yourself as an influencer. A fan named Carlos writes to you explaining that last night
he saw a man robbing the bank where his father works. He knew afterwards that the man did
not keep the money for himself, he instead donated the money to a poor orphanage. His father
was immediately fired from work as the bank could not afford the payment of all its workers.
Carlos knows who committed the crime and he would like to go to the authorities with the
information. There's a good chance that the money will be returned to the bank, and his father
can retake his job. However, if he does so, many children will not have food nor clothe. If you
were Carlos what would you do? As an influencer, what would you advice Carlos to do?

YOUR ANSWER

Write at least a paragraph giving your advice to Carlos. Use a formal language. (Write
a minimum of 200 words)

Carlos: I would keep the thought of trying to take back the lost money because it is
affecting firsthand my family and our peace. It is an awesome idea to help
underprivileged people and the ones who need it most but it does not mean you have
to do bad to other people for helping someone. There are several ways of helping
such as fundraising and so on.

Influencer: If I were an influencer, I would explain this issue to all my followers and I
would make a survey asking what to do about it. I know people like helping and trying
to do good acts. In this order of ideas, I would go to the poor orphanage and I would
display all this situation in order to get the lost Carlos’ father job. Finally, I would
record a video giving some money and asking my follower´s help. In this way, I can
help everyone.

We cannot covert bad behaviors just because someone is doing something good, stealing is
stealing and we cannot let those things happen. If we want to give a hand to others, we need
to look for different methods.
