Correct Breastfeeding Techniques

baby are face-to-face, chest-to-chest and tummy-
to-tummy.
• Stroke lightly the corner of the baby's lips with the
nipple to stimulate the infant to open the mouth
wide.
• Allow the baby to grasp the entire nipple plus one
inch of the surrounding areola, grasping a larger
portion of the lower than the upper part of the
areola.
• Insert a clean finger into the corner of the baby's
mouth to release the grasp.
• Allow the baby to suck on each breast for 15-30
minutes.
• Empty the breast regularly every 2-3 hours to ensure
