Dear Sir/Madam,

A326 (South) Junction Improvements, Fawley

I am writing to inform you that major highway improvement works are due to commence
along the southern section of the A326 between Marchwood and Fawley, from Monday
28th June 2021. This £8.1m scheme, jointly funded by the Solent Local Enterprise
Partnership and Fawley Waterside Limited, aims to increase the network capacity to
help reduce traffic delays along this busy arterial corridor. Hampshire County Council is
leading the delivery of the works and has appointed Milestone Infrastructure Services
as the main works contractor.

The work will be delivered in two phases, with arrangements and timings as follows:

Phase One

Dibden Roundabout: Works to commence from 28 June 2021, for estimated period of
9 weeks, with traffic management in place throughout the junction. To assist
construction, Main Road will be closed to traffic at the junction to the A326, for five
weeks from late July to end of school holidays. Access to residents and businesses will
be maintained and a signed diversion route provided.

Hardley Roundabout: Works to commence from mid/late July 2021, for an estimated
five-week period. To assist construction, off-peak temporary traffic signals will be in
place on the northern A326 arm of the roundabout for a five-weeks period.

Holbury Roundabout: Works to commence from early September 2021, for an

estimated twelve-week period with temporary traffic signals in operation at the junction.
Long Corpse Lane will be closed to traffic at the junction to the A326, for the whole of
this period. The exact dates of the closure will be advised nearer the time, but access to
residents and businesses will be maintained and a signed diversion route provided.

Call charges apply. For information see www.hants.gov.uk

The scheme working hours will be 7am to 6pm. Carriageway works will be limited to off-
peak periods between 9am to 4pm, with an occasional need for night time works which
will be minimised and notification provided in advance.

Phase 2

This second phase of works is being scheduled to commence later in 2021 for a period
of approximately 12 months. More precise dates and arrangements will be advised
nearer to the time.

This phase includes works to the following locations:

Applemore Roundabout (Sizer Way): widening of approaches and exit lanes,

realignment of the National Cycle Network crossing of A326.

Blackfield Road / Church Lane / B3053: new signalised junction and crossing
facilities.

A326 / Holbury Drove and Southbourne Avenue: capacity improvement and

pedestrian crossing facilities.

Dibden Purlieu Roundabout: widening of approaches and exit lanes.

Milestone Infrastructure Services will be following the latest national guidelines on

social distancing and all work will be carried out in-line with the Construction Leadership
Council’s Site Operation Procedures based on Public Health England guidance.

Whilst every effort is being made to coordinate the works and to minimise disruption,
the nature and location of the works means some additional delays are to be expected.
As such additional journey time should be allowed whilst these important improvements
to the capacity of the route are being carried out.
