1. For you, how does media affect your gender role?


From history, people are unaware on the vital use of internet on daily lives until they
understand that it was made to have ease on information dissemination and communication
purposes. Now, how does it affect the gender role? Because of the wide range capability of the
media to disseminate ideas, it follows the great impact or influence on worldwide users of
numerous online media platforms. A TV commercial may show a gender stereotyping for
viewers portraying one specific role of model to be a sole figure of being male or female. Some
concept show in TC commercials hugely influences on how one act because of the strong idea of
stereotyping for both genders. Now a days, media commands an individual to act according to
shared values and norms accumulated and kept online. Before, women are able to join manly
act but because of the strong commercial idea of women maintaining petit body figure they’re
now becoming more conscious and rely their act on what they saw and heard on various media
platforms.
2. In what ways does the Media force us to define our gender?’
The thing is, media became the new base on determining what an individual is, whether she’s a
she or he or he’s a he or she. There are videos online or on air that showcases how a person
decide in amidst of emotional distress on what she/he really want to be and want to do like
MMK. Video games for example, showing hypermasculinity for men showcasing that in battle
men should have a built-in body figure to win and survive. Having such muscles all over the body
means you’re stronger than anyone else which is a complete stereotype for men. Having that
idea on media platforms forces an individual to change physically and emotionally turning what
he/she saw online into real thinking that he/she could be accepted with that behavior or
appearance.

3. As student and Media literate how do you promote a great gender development by using any kinds of

media?

There are numerus publications online and on print releasing fake news which includes stereotyping
along with gender biases and gender discrimination. As a student, the only thing that we can do to
foster gender development is to voice out the fact behind the rotting bars of fake news. How do we do
that? as we are prone on numerous online platforms why don’t we share awareness through posting
any content that shows gender equality, one post will result to millions of shares and that’s one simple
act vs millions of debates. There are online contents regarding racism, gender discrimination, bullying
and etc., these contents speak a lot about balanced treatment and equality and that’s what we should
support. What I mean by that? One like will result to billions of reactions and this simple reaction means
a lot a non- verbal way to communicate that they support the content of fighting imbalances on gender
development.

4. What typical attributes of male and female gender roles on TV can you think of? How do they differ
in?

context, i.e., on the job, in the family, at different ages?


There are realistic and stereotyped roles on TV, when you watch a video which is based on real life story
you will notice the everyday role of a female and male within the household and workplace. You will
notice that women are doing multitasking activities at home and outside where they make living. Also,
there are real scenarios where women became the head of the family rather than her husband. In
commercials, there’s a wide distinction between the role of women mand men. Most especially when
you see ads about dishwashing liquids or detergent bars, women are the most common model because
there’s a stereotyping for women being locked on domestic works. While men can be seen on the
commercial related to strong beers, wines or even on paint brands.

5. Compare TV programs and ads. Do roles and stereotypes differ? Do they differ according to genres?

Tv programs and tv ads are the same as there are contents adopted form real life scenarios which
showcases the fact on gender role of being woman as wife and household keeper and men as the wall of
the family providing financial and other necessities for his family. Same on commercials about
dishwashing liquids, actually it is not the mother who always wash the dishes it is the offspring’s either
male or female. This is a strong stereotype for parents or wife that they’re locked on doing household
choirs while when you see other commercials about constructions you will notice the imbalance on
gender role because most it is once in table moon to show a woman offering product that’s manly in
concept. It is a vice versa adaptation of behavior, when someone see a scenario of men staying at home
doing household chores then people would try to do the same idea. And this becomes the main factor of
discrimination and gender inequality on different places.
