Abstract

Since March 2020, Covid-19 diseases has become a global pandemic that most of the schools
are closed in about 100 countries due to a public health emergency to prevent the virus
spreading, including Malaysia. The illness forces teachers to make the change of the way they
teach from face-to-face learning to online learning. The purpose of this study is (i) to identify
the perception of online learning among teachers, (ii) to examine the underlying challenges
that teachers face towards online teaching and learning and (iii) to evaluate to what extend
teachers strategize their readiness towards online teaching and learning by using a qualitative
methodology. The data collection technique was through in-dept interviews with three
primary teachers in different schools. The data was analyzed by themes narratively and
descriptively. This study's findings revealed that teachers showed a positive perception of the
usefulness and ease of online learning systems during pandemic Covid-19. Even though the
teachers face many challenges and online teaching process problems, they could show the
right attitude toward using technology to teach online. However, the findings of this study do
not represent all primary school teachers elsewhere.
