INTRODUCTION
Rationale
Scheduling has been a big part in our daily life in planning out activities in order
to achieve the desired goals and priorities. It helps the person to understand what
achievement will be done during the time and it’s giving a chance to select a favored time
without interrupting the schedule of the person or others. It can be in many ways that the
scheduling can be use in every field such as having appointments and schedule/book
services.

During these pandemic days, scheduling has been minimized because of the
protocol “social distancing” where the person must be at least far enough to another
person estimated around 3 or 4 feet away and that’s the problem for scheduling of
appointments or services today. Some service providers are still in the process of
scheduling appointments or services through manual especially human interaction in an
office. The Internet is another way for scheduling because it’s available in any devices
and the process/transaction is online. It was made as an alternative for manual scheduling
because the person or the client can always schedule appointments or services anywhere
or anytime and also the customer has the ability to update its request from the service
provider through a scheduling application that was installed in the device. In mentioning
the importance of online scheduling in these days, in the case of religious services, some
churches, parish, and ministries are still in the way of posting tarpaulins about the
schedules of masses and to contact them for scheduling through mobile calls which is
costly. Every office of a ministry or parish has its own administrator to ensure all requests
of schedules from the customers will be assisted and monitored within the day of
confirmation. All the process for scheduling in these days must be contactless and
remotely done anywhere. The Archdiocese of Cebu has many ministries and also
assigned priests and an application will be helpful to provide knowledge to customers
about the areas and districts of the Archdiocese including the history, location, and
available services.

From articles, it was stated that online scheduling is the new normal for these
days to schedule services and appointments. Not only that online scheduling is helpful to
the customers but it also boosts customer satisfaction like services that is assisted
manually. The purpose of mobile applications is to save time and also direct relay of
message to the customer. Thus, efficiency development comes from new innovations and
new procedures of creation and dispersion (Solow, 1959).

In the field of religious, the application of technology is must be applied in


scheduling of appointments and services. Mobile applications can be a big help especially

the study covers the Archdiocese of Cebu wherein all ministries and priests under the
district of Cebu (e.g. Metro Cebu North, Metro Cebu South, Southeast Cebu, Southwest
Cebu, Northwest Cebu, Far North Cebu, and Near North Cebu). The Archdiocese of
Cebu is the main source of all ministries or parish including the assigned priests. To
provide a better and easy access in scheduling and information, this app will
accommodate the customer to select an appointment from its any district depends on the
location. It will be helpful for customers especially in location where a person or family
could move to another place but can still access the application. The customer can select
a priest, cancel a request, edit a request, and especially will be suggested for another
schedule if the service provider is not available on that particular day or time. This study,
titled as Archdiocese of Cebu Ministries Scheduling and Information System, aims to
help people for requesting a service or an appointment through a mobile application. As
the pandemic is still going on, the mobile application can help people to book or schedule
safely without human interaction. This Archdiocese of Cebu Ministries Scheduling and
Information System features the workload of the staff to be lessened and to focus more
on the peoples’ choice of choosing the right time, right date, right location and other
necessary requirements to request a service or an appointment. This study defines the
importance of customer service using the kiosk technology and easy access to the
services of the campus ministry.
