this interview. SAGASTI: It’s a pleasure, thank you for choosing me to be part of this. INTERVIEWER: I’m very excited, I am currently studding Industrial engineering, and for me you are a great reference to look up to in Peru. SAGASTI: Thanks! And yeah. This is one of the best careers, it will cost you some time and effort, but it is worth every second of it. INTERVIEWER: Why did you choose industrial engineering? SAGASTI: I chose Industrial Engineering because I like solving complex and diverse problems that include the human interaction with a system. INTERVIEWER: Where did you study? SAGASTI: Oh, I studied at UNI. INTERVIEWER: Have you visited the campus after graduating? SAGASTI: Yeah. And I still do that sometimes. Some of my friends are teaching there. I should go more often though. INTERVIEWER: And have you ever worked as a professor too? SAGASTI: Yeah! I’ve work as a professor in the Pacific University since 2015. INTERVIEWER: And you were also president of Peru for some time! SAGASTI: Yeah. And you know what? Studding industrial engineering has helped me to develop many other qualities that I needed in this challenging stage of my life. INTERVIEWER: And did you stop teaching at that period? SAGASTI: Yeah, I had to, but now I’m planning to teach again next year. INTERVIEWER: That’s amazing! And what are you doing for a living now? SAGASTI: Well, I’m taking it easy now, and I’m just helping some students with their thesis on weekends. INTERVIEWER: I’m sure they are in good hands! how would you describe yourself in three words? SAGASTI: I am optimistic, rational, and fearless. INTERVIEWER: That shows that you have a very good personality! But apart from that, you look younger than you are. That’s amazing! SAGASTI: I am old! And I’ll be 77 in a couple of months. But I must admit that I eat healthy food and I often do exercise. Maybe that’s why. INTERVIEWER: Really? Could you give me an example of a healthy breakfast? SAGASTI: I drink a glass of water as soon as I get up every morning, this is not part of my breakfast but it’s still important. After that I usually have an apple or orange, a cup of coffee and some toasts with boiled eggs. INTERVIEWER: Great! Healthy body, healthy mind! SAGASTI: Yeah, that’s true. Although, I hurt my back after hours in front of my computer sometimes. So, also taking rest from work is important. I’m going to have some vacations soon. INTERVIEWER: That’s good! Are you going to travel somewhere? SAGASTI: Yeah! My family and I are going travel in November to Canada. It’s going to be snowing so I’ll not forget my boots! INTERVIEWER: What do you consider is the most stressing part of a trip? SAGASTI: Actually, there are two things. To make a reservation and the moment we do check out for sure. INTERVIEWER: Oh, I bet is because of the challenge that it is to make the whole family work as a team. SAGASTI: Yeah! But at the end I always manage to handle the situation. INTERVIEWER: That sounds as Industrial engineering again. SAGASTI: For sure! INTERVIEWER: Thank you so much for this interview and for the lessons you have given me today.
