A. Explain the different 21st-century literature representative texts and authors form
regions 1 to 6 based on the lesson today, including the element of poetry on the space
provided.
Todays topic is about the elements of poetry and famous poetry writers around
Luzon. I am going to differentiate the stories behind the famous poems that were
published around Luzon, specifically from regions 1 to 6. I researched each poem that is
listed in our lesson. Here are some short summaries, since I cannot read them all.
From region 1, written by Francisco Sionil Jose, published in 2004, titled Molave
and the Orchid. This poem was a story of love and purpose. The moral lesson of the
story is that we should not be afraid to take risks.
From region 4, written by Jose Dalisay Jr., titled Solidad’s Sister; Man
Overboard Published 2008 by Anvil Publishing (first published 2007). It is a
Poem-Novel, a tale of two sisters steeped in sweetness and tragedy, both as hopeless
and never get resolved or find a happier ending. It's a novel that concerns overseas
Filipino workers and the loved ones they left behind. Such a story has dealt with themes
of loss and opportunity as portrayed through countless middle and low-class Filipinos
journeying to foreign lands to become more or less minimum wage workers since it
seems to be the only decent option to financially provide for their families back home.
Filipinos and those who have experienced emigration, whether personal or through the
exodus of their family members, can relate to. It shows the abuses suffered by Filipino
migrant workers in foreign countries, and the abuses that they are again subjected to in
their home country.
As you can see, every poem that was mentioned above was written
differently and uniquely. Some are written as a story, some as an expression
of emotion. Most importantly is that all of these poems bring imagery in our
minds which we use to imagine the story or to feel the feelings that the
authors are conveying in their poems.
