REVISIT THE INFOGRAPHIC/S

A group of more than six hundred teachers was surveyed and asked what teaching learning problems
confront them. Here are their answers put together in a wordle.
Study the wordle below. Each word represents an issue or a problem which was reported by teachers in
the field. Which of the words do you recognize as a problem? Draw a CIRCLE around five words that
you have also identified as problems in teaching-learning.

Teachers (Felimon, Siason, Bilbao, 2021)
Each of the identified problem that you encircled has a corresponding action or solution.

What five problems have you identified from the words that you have encircled? Make a statement. Write
in the space below.

The problems 1 identified are

1. Financial – Some students struggling in financial support because of
family problem and that will lead to student failure.
2. Modules – We all know that modules are required for students to
measure their learning progress but students who are slow learners
see them a bit boring and turns to get students not go to school
anymore.
3. Behavior - Health problems, personal or family problems, adjustment
or developmental issues (e.g., “immaturity” or self-esteem issues), or
general academic difficulties.
4. Resources - A lack of financial resources can result in lower academic
performance and less attraction to certain education subjects. It is a
cycle that starts with the lack of financial resources.
5. Online – Not all students gadgets and have access in the internet and
this is the most common problems that teachers especially student
face today. Lacking of resources

Excellent! Let us see how we can assist and learn at the same time.

Suppose, the problem you have spotted is: COMPREHENSION.

How can you assist your mentor, after knowing that the learners have difficulty in comprehension?

Make a Choice for your ACTION.

A. Conduct a tutorial lesson.
B. Show video lessons to help enhance comprehension.
C. Make a learning task to develop comprehension.
Suppose you chose letter A. Conduct a Tutorial. So you have identified the SOLUTION that matches the
PROBLEM which is Difficulty in Comprehension.
The Problem is:. The Action is:

DIFFICULTY IN CONDUCT A
COMPREHENSION TUTORIAL
OF

Can you also choose letter B: Show video lesson as a SOLUTION for the same PROBLEM?
Explain Yes, it is another way to learn or to practice comprehension it can develop their way of speaking
and reading as well also with that they can be more attentive and there is a chance that they will mimic
whats in the video.

The Problem is: The Action is:

DIFFICULTY IN SHOW VIDEO

COMPREHENSION LESSONS
OF

What about letter C as a SOLUTION to the same PROBLEM? Why? Its also possible and a good strategy
to fasten the development of learning in all aspects of knowledge. Giving them tasks to do with the
attached goals yoi want students to learn have a higher chances to level up students comprehension.

The Problem is: The Action is:

DIFFICULTY IN MAKE LEARNING

COMPREHENSION TASK TO IMPROVE
OF COMPREHENSION
Interesting, isn’t it? Now, you can assist your mentor by identifying observed problems in the class and
suggest actions to be done.

NOTICE
What have you noticed of the problem identified above? Can there be more than one solution to
the problem? Yes there are many ways and methods you can use to sharpen their comprehension
Explain Teachers can make students read in their text book everyday, giving them puzzles that
uses their vocabulary to answer the problem and at the end of that teachers can ask students what
they remember in the story or sentences they read.
A creative and innovative teacher can find one or more than one solution or answer to the same
problem. Each solution matches with the problem. The more solutions identified to choose from,
the better for an action researcher.

ANALYZE
Let us try to look into the following scenarios in the daily life of a teacher. This scenario might
also be similar to the class you have observed and noticed.
Scenario A: Miss Fely is a grade four teacher in a typical elementary school. She has forty
learners in her class. One half of them cannot classify animals into vertebrates and invertebrates.
She has been repeating the same science lesson for two weeks, yet no progress was observed.
This situation has been bothering Miss Fely.

 Can you identify, Miss Fely's problem? Students who has difficulty in understanding
or identifying vertebrates to invertebrates.
 Can you find a solution to solve her problem?__Yes_____ Give your two suggestions.
a. Providing students a video that shows what animals are vertebrates/invertebrates.
b. Show them pictures with full explanation on how certain animals are
vertebrates/invertebrates.
 What solution can solve Miss Fely's problem Using videos online, or alternative ways
like pictures.
How? By giving them the samples or references they will know the difference of each.
Are they matched with the problem? Yes, everything has a solution and based on the
problem, the given solution is applicable to the situation.

Scenario B: Sir Ryan teaches in a disadvantaged urban community. Most of his learners come
from families that are disrupted, either with single parents or with their guardians who stand only
as parents. They are deprived of the necessary food, clothing and shelter.

 Can you identify the most probable teaching-learning problem/s in the class of Sir
Ryan?
a. Family background, we don’t know if they can focus on their studies because of
what they are going through
b. Resources like pens, papers.
 Can you propose a solution to solve one of the problems you have Yes Give your two
suggestions.
We need a balanced atmosphere to all the student, we need to encourage them that by
this they can learn new things that they can use everywhere and it is a ways for them
to reach their dreams and get out of poverty. Seek assistance to the brgy or municipal
mayor to help the students in their needs as well as their studies.

After reading the two scenarios given above, how would identifying problematic situations and
finding solutions to these problems help you to become a better teacher? Explain:
If you are good at finding solutions to the problems of your students then you will have a good
classroom environment because if there are no problems then there is no conflict of students
learning also you can avoid it from getting bigger.

WRITE ACTION RESEARCH PROMPTS

Using any one example of problem in this activity, answer the AR prompts that follow:

OBSERVE
What problematic situation prevails in the classroom?
Students who are struggling to their studies because of the following reasons:
Absenteeism, lack of parents support (financial and assistance), and especially students
who don’t focus on their studies and tends to have a lower grades.

REFLECT
What changes do you want to achieve?
I want a more knowledgeable classroom environment where students will learn with or
without a teacher, I will put books, posters and problem solving games where they can
play while im there or while im not in the classroom. I want them to practice and learn at
the same time I wont tolerate students who are not interested to learn, instead I will give
them more attention so that they can catch up to the lessons I gave.

PLAN
What strategies will you use to improve the situation?
Providing worksheets and learning activities which are exciting and can catch the
attention of the students it should be informative and usable at the same time.

ACT
What would be the title of you Action Research should you conduct the study?
Struggling of Students Studies with Different Reasons
Add: Solutions/Action

CHECK YOUR MASTERY

Here are some problematic situations in the teaching-learning environment as

WORK ON MY ARTIFACTS
Your Artifact will be an Abstract of a completed Action Research.
Children in mainstream schools who struggle academically and disengage in regular schooling
may be helped when teachers change their practice to include what the students themselves have
reported makes a difference. Student voices need to be listened to, not as a token gesture, but as
a way of making a positive difference in their lives at school and therefore strengthen their
ability to be a successful member of society in the future.
