4. IS THE GROUP FOR OR
AGAINST MINING? WHY?
- Our group (Group 7) is against mining, it is because it
destroys our environment specially the hard work of
the people living in that area, having their crops all die
and having a contaminated water that can destroy
their health. .

AGAINST MINING? WHY?
In terms of the government, they are not against the mining
because it allows the foreigners, under the service contract
system as in oil exploration, to own 100 percent of mining.
While the citizens living in those areas (Zambales) are against
the mining because it is a threaten to their crops as well as it
destroys the environment and can cause flashfloods.

- Philippine Mining Act of 1995 (Republic Act No. 7942)
- An Act instituting a new system of mineral
resources exploration, development, utilization
and conservation.

- All mineral resources in lands privately or publicly owned within the
territory and exclusive economic zone of the Republic of the Philippines are
property of the State, which shall promote and supervise for their rational
exploration, development, utilization and conservation while attentively
safeguarding the environment and protecting the rights of affected
communities (as ancestral rights).
5. SEARCH ANY MINING
LAW IN THE PHILIPPINES
Surveys and subsequent mapping of all quarries shall be produced,
and a regular monitoring of their operations in order to evaluate if they
are still productive, if they are polluting the environment or are
unproductive and have to be closed. Mining license as exploration
license shall be granted to public and private enterprises by the
competent authorities.
