Morning Assembly December 12, 2019 Grade 9-Calungsod

Dear Brethren:
As we join the Church in commemorating the Feasl of
OUR LADY OF GUADALUPE, let us listen to the
Word of God from the Gospel of Saint Luke,
Chapter 1, verses 26-33

26
In the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent by God to a town in Galilee called
Nazareth,27 to a virgin betrothed to a man named Joseph, of the House of David; and the
virgin's name was Mary.28 He went in and said to her, 'Rejoice, you who enjoy God's
favour! The Lord is with you.' 29 She was deeply disturbed by these words and asked
herself what this greeting could mean, 30 but the angel said to her, 'Mary, do not be
afraid; you have won God's favour. 31 Look! You are to conceive in your womb and bear a
son, and you must name him Jesus. 32 He will be great and will be called Son of the Most
High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his ancestor David; 33 he will rule over the
House of Jacob for ever and his reign will have no end.'

The Gospel of the Lord

Praise to You Oh Lord Jesus Christ

REFLECTIONS:

The gospel for today is the story of Mary’s Annunciation when the angel appeared to her
and revealed to her that she would conceive and bear a Son. Luke says that Mary was
extremely troubled at the angel’s news.  She must have had many questions and
concerns. Yet somehow in the midst of her turmoil, Mary was able to trust God .  And she
freely consented to what God was asking of her.  At times, Jesus (and life) also presents
us with difficult or painful situations that may stir up a storm of emotion in us .  How do
we respond?   Do we trust that God will guide and grace us?  We have a wonderful
model in Mary.  Like Mary, we need to keep ourselves grounded in the God we know,
trust and love.  If we do this, then we may believe and trust that we will receive the
grace and strength we need.  This will bring us peace.  God will bring us peace! Today
may we ask Mary to pray for us.  She has “walked in these shoes.”  She will walk with us
always!

PRAYER: (In the name of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, Amen.)
Heavenly Father, you are the source of wisdom and strength. You are the maker of all
the things visible and invisible. You guide us always with you love and care. As we
prepare for the birth of your Son, Jesus Christ, we are asking you to bless this day for
us. Bless us with the gift of knowledge so that we may be able to answer the test
questions with all our understanding. Keep us free from any distractions and make us
focus so that in the end we shall succeed in this endeavor. Through the intercession of
Our Lady of Guadalupe, bless us also that we may prepare ourselves in celebrating
