Creating and Leading

(by Richard Baldoz)

A team is a group of people who have agreed to collaborate in order to accomplish a common
goal. Speaking, exchanging thoughts, discussing topics, communicating, making decisions, setting
goals, and coping with shifting objectives are all examples of collaborative work. Athletic teams, pit
crews, specialist musical groups, surgical teams, and other high-performing teams have three
things in common: A capable team leader. Team members who are talented and dedicated.
Processes for effective teamwork.

Strong leaders can be cultivated in a number of ways. When they are being mentored into
leadership, they choose to imitate their mentor's acts over his or her voice. When you're in charge
of developing new leaders, it's important to be of service to them and to keep yourself responsible
for their progress.

Effective team leaders make a convincing case for the team's mission and use a debating style to
get everyone on board with a set of clear goals, strategies, and values. They steer, engage, and
inspire team members with an effective leadership style. They also set a good example and keep
people responsible for their actions.

Great teams not only perform excellent work, but they also energize their members. As team
members progress and achieve success, they become more cohesive.
