1 Introduction

1.1 General introduction

Science and technology, involved in the development, construction and use of robots is
known as robotics. Robot, a computer is programmed to communicate with objects and
make it mimic, human or animal behavior. The few disciplines of robotics are computer,
electronics, mechanics, and engineering. Main goal of robotics is to build automatic
devices which can perform hard work. Robotics has now progressed and created a
number of disciplines. Like robotics surgery, it has character to reach the goal of improving
human health. Very complicated surgical procedures that require more attention and the
hazards that are caused by man's hand can be eliminated through use of robots. (tech
reviews, 2019) .

1.2 Current scenario worldwide

Hospitals:

Health care, one of the fastest growing industries in country is attracting interests from
robotics designers and manufacturers. Doctor-controlled surgical robots are already being
used. Nurses and home health care helpers will be replaced with the increase in
mechanical aids robots can be used for lifting and repositioning patients. It can be used to
deliver medicines, lab sample and reports. (Editors, The Kiplinger Washington, 2013) To
extract the prostate by just five small incisions, doctors at El Camino Health use robotic-
assisted surgery. El Camino Health uses Artemis to treat prostate cancers. (El camino
health , 2019)

Food preparation:

Chowbotics has developed an advanced machine that provides salads and other bowl
designed meals. For customers choice sally holds variety of ingredients fresh in
refrigerated container. Hospitals, universities and other location where people want fast

food sally robots are deployed. Sally is reported to be capable of getting much output.
(Gottsegen, 2019)

2 Background

The word "robot" was introduced by Karel Capek about 86 years ago, in 1921 in his book
“Rossunis universal robot”. Isaac Asimov later published a short story introducing the term
in 1942. To increase efficiency and to produce better products automated machines were
created. (verlag, 2018)

2.1 Types of robots according to their applications:

Industrial Robots:
Industrial robots were first robots that
replaced humans performing minor repetitive
tasks. Factory assembly lines can work in a
well-defined environment without the help of
humans and carry out tasks in a given order,
acting on items specifically positioned in front
of it (Mordechai Ben-Ari, 2017).
They come in a wide range of models with th
e most common distinguishing features being
the reach size, the payload capacity and the

number of travel axes (up to six) of their
joined arm. A robot uses the End Effectors or the EOAT tool for maintaining the process
tool or the component on which the process is performed, in both manufacturing and
handling applications. (MHI, 2020)

Autonomous Mobile robots:

Most mobile robots are not autonomous
because they rely on an operator controlling the
device. Fully autonomous mobile robots make
own decision and do not depend upon an
operator to perform the tasks. In order to help
professionals in work mobile robots were
designed. (Mordechai Ben-Ari, 2017)

Figure 2: Autonomous robots weeding the field (research gate,

2020) 3
Humanoid Robots:
A form of autonomous mobile robots which are
designed to move its arms and legs similar to humans
is known as humanoid robots. Humanoid robots are
much expensive and hard to design and control. It can
be used to provide services in home or space
stations. (Mordechai Ben-Ari, 2017)
Humanoid robots can be used as labors for the difficult Figure 3: Humanoid robots in space station (grush, 2020)

and dangerous tasks. It can also be used as guidelines for the elderly people or can be
developed in a form of receptionist similarly like humans (Robotic Industries Association,
2020)

2.2 Current scenario in Nepal

Along with other countries Nepal is also

moving ahead in the field of robotics and
Artificial Intelligence (AI). paila technology
has invented a humanoid waiter robot
named ginger. The name ginger is
declared as it is a famous cooking
indregedent. Ginger being a humanoid
robot can give services to peoples in
better way. paila technology invents robots
that can interact with human beings in
friendly way. Ginger can understand

human languages and reply in English .it
is fully automatic and show gestures
while interacting with humans. Ferry and pari2.0 are the upcoming robots of paila
technology Ferry is a automated robot that can move freely around hotel premises, provide
food services to the guests in their own room and can contact elevator wirelessly. pari 2.0
is a service robot which contains all the artificial intelligence(AI) of ginger robot with
additional features. it is designed for big companies, hospitals ,shopping malls, hotels,
4
banks, etc. (neupane, 2018). Currently naulo restaurant is using this ginger robot. Naulo is
first to introduce humanoid robot interactive with people. With these technological aspects
naulo believes customer will gain excellent experience. (naulo, 2020).

3 Implementation

3.1 Idea of implementation

Robotics is being a popular subject in the world. Nepal is also moving forward towards
robotics. Robots have covered some of the places of human workers and many to be
covered. In Nepal robots can be used in transportation. There many road accident
nowadays due to human fault. Those faults can be reduced using robots in transportation
fields. Autonomous robots which are featured with AI can be used in transportation.
Automatic vehicle is important because it help to reduce acciddents and overcome human
error. Disabled and elderly people who are dependent can be independent with the help of
automated vehicles. It also helps to reduce feul costing. (autobytel, 2020) Autonomous
robots have many benefits and can make many change in Nepal in the feild of
transportations. Robotics can be used in military as an alternative of human soldier. Using
robots as soldiers many human lives can be saved. As robots are not like humans it does
not feel tired or get fear of the enemy. It is better to use robots as soldiers.

3.2 Plan of implementation

Robots can be used in transportation sector of Nepal by establishing self-driving cars with
the features of Autonomous robots. Self driving car have capability of driving safely in
every condition. It can be used as public vehicles, school bus, personal vehicles, heavy
vehicles, etc. It also contains manually driving mode which can be switched by a person in
emergency cases. Cars like Nissan maxima, Honda accord, KIA stinger GT1, GT2 can be
used as these cars are autonomous. (autobytel, 2020) Autonomous robots or remote
controlled robots can be used in the military sectors. If anything happens we only lose the
money not soldiers life. Tasks in which human life are risky such as bomb disposal using
robots is best idea. Using the AI robots with fully armed weapons can defend the country
in wars. Robots like MAARS, DOGO, SAFFIR, etc can be used in the field of military.
(Nicol, 2017)

4 Conclusion

4.1 Summary
In summary, robotics is the science and technology of construction of robots. As emerging
technology in the world robotics is popular subject among them. Robotics is applications
which can be used in all the sectors. There are various types of robots according to their
applications like industrial robots, autonomous robots, humanoid robots etc. industrial
robots are used in manufacturing and autonomous robots an humanoid robots can be
used as service robots in any field .Many countries are using robots in the place of human
beings in industries, health, transportations and many more. Robots are simply a machine
which makes humans life easier. Nepal is also introducing robots like ginger robot which is
made by paila technology. Naulo restaurant is using these robots as a waiter.

4.2 Future Escalation

Robotics is a future itself in the field of technology. Many countries are going ahead in the
field of robotics. Robotics has got high demand in the world. High rated hospitals and
industries are using robots as workers. If we use robots wisely it is good for all of us. In the
near future demand of robots is increasing widely. New AI developers with new idea can
get high job opportunity in the fields of robotics. Robotics can be widely used in every
sectors of the world which makes robots more popular among the world. In future we are
going to see developments of more robots with more features which can make our life
easier. In future we are going to ride driverless cars as development of self driving cars is
increasing.
