ARE YOU REGISTERED IN OUR PARISH?
If you are new to the parish or have been attending
Mass here, ensure that you are registered by completing
the tear off section at the front of this bulletin. Please
do not take for granted that you are registered in the
parish, just because you attend Mass here. In the
future, should you be in need of a pastoral letter
(godparent, school, sponsor for confirmation, teacher
referral, etc.), it would be difficult to issue one if you
are not formally registered with the parish. If you are
not sure that your family is registered, call or email the
office.

ANNUAL OFFENCE DECLARATIONS
It’s that time of the year again… your friendly
Responsible Faith Ministry reminder! Even though due
to Covid-19, much of the usual volunteering in the
parish has been limited this year, nonetheless, all
volunteers with a police clearance through St. Helen
must complete the annual offence declaration form.
Forms will be emailed or can be picked up at the
church. It is very easy to complete – simply print the
form, complete the top section, sign and date it. You
can either scan it to the office email or hand it in
directly at the office. Please do this as soon as possible,
since the office needs all the forms by end of
November 2021.
By doing this, you will maintain the validity of your
current police check clearance moving forward. This
means we will be able to seamlessly resume activities
when the time is right.

during the week.

We face economic
and environmental
disasters of our own
making that call for
the wisdom and
foresight of God’s
vision: to realize that
we hold the power to
redeem our deeply
divided world and
restore our broken
earth if we embrace the Gospel spirit of humility,
selflessness and generosity.
The unsettling images Jesus articulates in today’s
Gospel confronts us with the reality that the things we
treasure – our careers, our portfolios, our status, our
bodies – will one day be no more and that our
separation from them will be bitter.
The “signs” that Jesus speaks of in today’s Gospel are
all around us; the “fig tree” grows and blossoms in the
lives of every one of us. With eyes and hearts of faith,
we can recognize such “signs” of God’s love in our
midst. The Gospel fig tree challenges us to listen
beyond mere words, to look deeper than the surface, to
realize the presence of God in times and places when
and where God seems to be absent.
Change – sometimes frightening, often traumatic,
seldom easy – is part of that journey for all of us. But
when our “heavens and earths” pass away, the promise
of the life of God and the values of the Gospel remain
constant.
THE PRAYER SHAWL
MINISTRY continues to
create handcrafted shawls for
parishioners, their families
and friends who are coping
with illness, loneliness, pain or trouble. They are
available to anyone who needs one. Please call the
office to request a shawl or lap blanket or if you would
like to join this ministry.
VOLUNTEERS DESPERATELY NEEDED TO
JOIN OUR TEAM OF CHURCH CLEANERS:
CAN YOU GIVE TWO HOURS A MONTH?
Over the last 18 months, with Covid, our team of
dedicated volunteers who generously offer up their time
to clean the church, has diminished in size for different
reasons. We desperately need more people to assist the
few that remain. If you can come even once or twice a
month for a couple of hours, please call the parish
office or Nancy @ 905-563-7096. Your help would be
greatly appreciated as many hands make the tasks
lighter.
DIOCESAN SEPARATED & DIVORCED
HEALING MINISTRY SUPPORT GROUP
Every second and fourth Monday of the month from
7:00-9:00 p.m. at Mt. Carmel Spiritual Centre, 7020
Stanley Ave., Niagara Falls. Pre-registration is
required. Meetings will be held both in person at Mount
Carmel and virtually via Zoom platform. Next session

REGARDING PROOF OF VACCINATION &
THE MANDATORY USE OF FACE COVERINGS
Some highlights of the Diocesan policy:
- No proof of vaccination is required for anyone
attending Mass or other liturgical service in any church
in the Diocese of St. Catharines. Physical distancing
and face masks are required for the entire time
someone is in the church building, except to receive
Holy Communion.
- Parishioners who are elderly or may be medically
compromised may decide to stay home and participate
in a livestreamed Mass.
- Face shields are not an adequate form of face covering
- Masks will be provided if you don't have one
- Face coverings are to be removed for communion
-"Any individual...who does not comply with the
diocesan policy and the mandatory face covering law
will be solely responsible for any penalty or fine that
might be levied by the municipality or county for non-
compliance."
2022 OFFERTORY ENVELOPES/PARISH ID
IMPORTANT: Do not use old envelopes, those any
ID’s may have already been reassigned to another
family. If you don’t have your 2021 box of envelopes
or don’t have an ID, please use a plain envelope and put
your name and address on it. 2022 envelopes are ready
for pickup; please check the label for accuracy and
advise the office if there is an error. If you don’t see a
box for you, leave your contact info or contact the
office to request a box. A 9000 series ID# can be
assigned if envelopes are not needed for those using
CAFT or etransfer for donations.
WORLD DAY OF THE POOR - NOV. 14TH
In 2017, Pope Francis instituted the World Day of the
Poor so that “throughout the world Christian
communities can become an ever greater sign of
Christ’s charity for the least and those most in need.”
The World Day of the Poor is observed on the 33rd
Sunday in Ordinary Time, which this year falls on
November 14, 2021. The Message of His Holiness Pope
Francis for the fifth World Day of the Poor, entitled
“The poor you will always have with you” (Mk 14:7)

If you would like to use this convenient method through your bank, please follow these
instructions (some banks charge a fee):
Go online and log into your bank account. Select Interac e-transfer and select a
recipient – the first time you will have to add recipient by putting in
donations@sthelenscatholic.ca (after the first time it will then stay on your list of
recipients). Input amount to send and complete the transaction. Note in the memo area
what your donation is for; Sunday Offertory (SO), Facility Maintenance (FM) and
Building Fund (BF). (Please include your ID# in the memo - contact the office if you
do not have a parish ID.)
Example - SO $20 One transaction can be made for all three if you wish. Such a
notation could look like this: SO $xx, FM $xx, BF $xx. If your transaction does not
work the first time, please try the next day as the Diocese can only receive a set amount
of donations in a 24-hour period. If you have any questions, please email or call the
office.
