Early Christmas Treat for Children
Following on from the successful launch of
Christmas last Friday, the team at Digicel
Tonga started the week with its community
initiatives and first on the list was the visit
to children with special needs at the
Mango Tree Centre.
Mango Tree Centre was officially commis-
sioned this very month in 2013 by the
Government of Japan. The Centre was
built to address the immediate needs of
our country in a wide range of areas that

Digicel Tonga launched it’s 8 week Christ-
mas Campaign, themed Shake More Share
More this Christmas on Thursday last week.
The traditional Santa Parade and Tree
Lighting ceremony took place last Friday
with hundreds of children and families
gathered at Tonga’s capital, Nuku’alofa.
With fun, games and entertainment at the
event plus the display of fireworks, which
was a highlight for the children. Seeing the
faces of thousands of children light up in joy
as they witnessed the Parade, participated
in the fun and games, danced to the endless
entertainment provided and awaited in
much excitement for the lighting of the
biggest Christmas Tree in Tonga certainly
kept families and especially children in high
spirits.
This COVID-19 pandemic has put a strain on
had direct impact on communal and
socio-economic activities of Tonga. It is
with that same need that over 7 years
to-date Digicel has continued to support
Mango Tree every year and proud to
offer support throughout the years with
Internet services, TV, Bible camps and fuel
to allow our children transportation from
their homes to this Centre for their thera-
py classes and learnings.
Part of Digicel’s mandate is to provide
the necessary support to our communities
a lot of families and this event was able to
bring families together in a moment to enjoy
and spread the spirit of Christmas amongst
the Community. Digicel Tonga will be at the
pulse of the Community in the next couple
of weeks with a series of community initia-
tives planned to help give back and reward
those that helped through this challenging
year. This includes Christmas gifts presented

and that also extends to our services for
people with physical and intellectual
disabilities here in Tonga, especially our
Children.
Each child was gifted a Christmas present
from Santa and the team at Digicel
Square in an effort to spread the meaning
of Christmas across Communities bringing
joy and peace.
