Howard Stevenson is a professor at Harvard Business School (HBS) who is

the godfather of entrepreneurship and the one quoted or define entrepreneur as

“entrepreneur is the pursuit of opportunity beyond resources controlled”.
His quote is composed of key words that one should bare and determine. These are
pursuit, opportunity, and beyond resources controlled.

Pursuit infers that as an individual or an entrepreneur must be optimistically

straight looking forward or has single persistent focus in his/her own business.
He/she should also be persevere enough and show concrete progress in the said
field.
Opportunity infers that in entrepreneurship through your persistence chances may
open and come into your way such as to create unique yet advanced product,
developing innovative business model, establishing improved and even budget
friendly product and strategizing for the presentation your said product to new
target customers.
Beyond Resources Controlled implies that within your venture in
entrepreneurship or as an entrepreneur you are bound to constraints of resources.
Meaning you may lack access to the need things or the things the personally
control.

To sum up Stevenson says that entrepreneurship based on his definition does not
hinge on novelty. Entrepreneurs must seek resources beyond the ones they control;
be inventive, creative, opportunistic, persuasive, and ready to risk anything or
willing to risk loss in order to make money, profit or success.
