Acquati G Dart Drop Tester
Acquati G Dart Drop Tester
Acquati G Dart Drop Tester
Meets ASTM D1709 & UNI 8044 Methods A & B Standard Test Method for
the free fall of a dart preloaded, for impact tests on plastic films.
The tool is simple to use "stand-alone tester" not instrumented to measure
impact resistance of films, foils and plastic laminates.
Suitable for:
· Control of Production
· Research and development of new products
· Inspection of incoming film
· Controls "in-process" to ensure the product "on-spec"
Easy operation
The manual system for issuing dart is safe and effective for the control of the sample, and
really simple locking of the sample between two rings.
Expandable; Flexible operation for the test method A & B test ASTM D 1709
It also comes equipped with darts and weight UNI 8044 Methods A and B
Portable and versatile. Combination stem height and number of weights available for all tests
provided for by law and all the darts provided.
Scope:
The falling dart impact, is a traditional method for the evaluation of the resistance
or impact toughness of a film. This test uses a configuration and a single dart
drop height, while varying the weight applicable to the dart. The test results can
It is used both as an assessment of the quality control or for comparisons, final use.
Test procedure:
Depending on the strength of the expected impact of the test sample, the method chosen A or B
dart test is loaded weight. (Figure 7 & 8)
the method defines the size of the dart and the fall height of the same.
A number of test samples are then used to determine a point of
Departure appropriate for the weight of the dart.
The specimen is clamped securely in a ring at the base of the drop tower. (Figure 3)
two metal rings, one of the base that remains fixed and one removable, in the middle of the sample in
test that will be blocked with the three clamps. (Figure 3)
The mounting bracket is adjusted the height of fall in 26 or 60 inc, and the dart is inserted
in the bracket. (Figure 6)
The dart is released down the center of the specimen. This operation is recommended
perfect leveling of the instrument adjustment of the three legs and control (Figure
1) of leveling the level of the instrument. (Figure 5)
The weight of the fall and the test result (pass / fail) are recorded.
The method to analyze these data in the test method is called "Bruceton Staircase".
They have conducted a series of 20 to 25 impacts. If a test specimen passes, the drop weight
It is incremented by one unit. If a sample fails, the weight of a fall decreases
units. The results of these impacts are used to calculate the weight "Failure Impact" - the point at which the
50% of specimens will fail under the impact.
ASTM 1709
Test Method A specifies a hemispherical dart 38 mm (1.5 ")
Test Method B specifies a hemispherical dart from 51 mm (2 ")
UNI 8044
Test Method A specifies a hemispherical dart 40 mm (weight 32 grams)
Test Method B specifies a hemispherical dart from 50 mm (320 grams)
Sample size:
Specimens can be cut to 230 mm x 230 mm (9 "x 9")
A minimum of 30 samples are required for the test
