rank and title of National Scientist of the Philippines in 1988.
 Campos initiated the construction of the first [radionuclide|radioisotope] laboratory in the
Philippines.
3. Ramon C. Barba (Flower Induction)

 Born on August 31, 1939

 Is a Filipino inventor and Horticulturist, thanks to his invention, mango trees, and other crops
now can produce more flowers using ethrel and potassium nitrate. This invention change how
mangoes and other fruits or crops are grown globally.
 There were initial objections to Barba's research proposals for inducing flowering in mango.
 He conducted experiments with help from his friends Jose and Rita Quimson of Quimara Farms
in San Jose del Monte, Bulacan
 His study, titled Induction of Flowering of the Mango by Chemical Spray was named best paper
by the Crop Science Society of the Philippines (CSSP) in 1974.

4. Rodolfo C. Aquino (Isolated Rice Breeds)

 Born on September 6, 1924

 In 1966, Dr. Rodolfo Aquino isolated nine specific breeds of rice for the International Rice
Research Institute.
 His discoveries helped prevent famine in much of Asia, and were nearly solely responsible for
Thailand and Vietnam becoming the world’s leading rice producers (A spot once solely occupied
by the Philippines.)

5. Julian Banzon (Alternative Fuel)

 Born on March 25, 1908

 A Filipino biochemist and a National Scientist of the Philippines.
 Banzon is credited for his research in alternative fuel.
 He researched the production of ethyl ester fuels from sugarcane and coconuts and devised a
method of extracting residual coconut oil through chemical means.
 He researched on the production of ethyl ester fuels from sugarcane and coconuts and devised
a method of extracting residual coconut oil through chemical means.

6. Gregorio Y. Zara (Inventor of the Videophone)

 Born on March 8, 1902

 He was a famous Engineer and Physicist in the Philippines who invented and patented the first
Videophone device (‘Photo Phone Signal Separator Network) in 1955.
 He also discovered the physical law of Electrical Kinetic Resistance called the Zara effect in 1930.
 In 1978 he was conferred the Order of National Scientist by President Ferdinand Marcos.
 Zara also was an educator. He was an instructor of aeronautics at the Valeriano Aviation School,
at the American Far Eastern School of Aviation (1933) and at the Far Eastern University (1937–
