DICT Mindanao Cluster 2 continues intensified Free Wi-Fi rollout:

A solution to one of the learners’ major concerns is now waving!

At this time of the pandemic, chances hardly come knocking

on our doors. But, recently one of the most well-known
telecommunication companies in the country, in partnership
with DICT continues the intensified free Wi-Fi rollout in
Kapatagan and throughout the entire Mindanao.

This is a great chance for the students, especially around

here in Brgy. Bansarvil I which is one the disadvantaged
area here in Kapatagan, Lanao del Norte.

DICT MC2 expects to deploy

more sites in the coming months
as part of the intensified rollout
of the project, particularly in geographically isolated areas (or GIDA
sites).

The Free Wi-Fi for All Program is one of the DICT’s flagship programs
that aims to provide free internet access in public places nationwide,
under Republic Act 10929 also known as the Free Internet Access in
Public Places Act.

According to the DICT website, as

of April 28, 2021, the Free Wi-Fi for
All program had established a total
of 8,851 sites in 1109 localities and
80 provinces.

The Barangay Captain of Bansarvil

I, Mrs. Nerry B. Andoy has great expectations for the DICT project. In her interview, she said that
she’s thankful for this Project because the area is geographically isolated having no network
connection.

“Dagko kog pasalamat sa taga DICT ug sa Globe nga

niabot na gyud na (DICT Project) sa among Barangay…
dagko na siyang ikatabang labaw na sa mga
kabatanunan nga nag online classes sila. Maayo na siya
diri sa Brgy. Bansarvil labaw nga wala gyud signal diri.”

The learners couldn’t agree more. Rosaly D. Patagoc is a College and Teachers’ Assistant student
who also resides in the area. Having a network connection will be a great advantage to her studies
since Wi-Fi connection is not reliable sometimes.

signal ang Bansarvil kay naay times nga ang
Wi-Fi loading kaayo. Dili siya masaligan permi
ug dili pud tanan maka afford ug pataod sa Wi-
Fi.”
