What is Civil Technology?

Civil Technology focuses on concepts and
principles in the built environment and on the
technological process. It embraces practical
skills and the application of scientific
principles.
Civil engineering technicians help civil
engineers to plan, design, and build highways,
bridges, utilities, and other infrastructure
projects. They also help to plan, design, and
build commercial, industrial, residential, and
land development projects.

1. Trowel In masonry, a
trowel is the flat
tool that is used
to apply and
spread mortar or
plaster. This type
of trowel is
different than a
garden trowel,
though.
2. Plumb A plumb bob is a
Bob weighted object
connected to a
string that can be
used to establish
a vertical line.
3. Hoe A hoe is an
ancient and
versatile
agricultural and
horticultural
hand tool used to
shape soil,
remove weeds,
clear soil, and
harvest root
crops. Shaping
the soil includes
piling soil around
the base of
plants, digging
narrow furrows
and shallow
trenches for
planting seeds or
bulbs.
4. Spade A spade is a tool
primarily for
digging
comprising a
blade – typically
stunted and less
curved than that
of a shovel – and
a long handle.
Early spades
were made of
riven wood or of
animal bones.
After the art of
metalworking
was developed,
spades were
made with
sharper tips of
metal.
5. Digging A digging bar is a
Bar long, straight
metal bar used
for various
purposes,
including as a
post hole digger,
to break up or
loosen hard or
compacted
materials such as
soil, rock,
concrete and ice
or as a lever to
move objects.
6. Head Pan A round
container, like a
bowl, used in
construction
work.
7. Crow Bar The crowbar is a
single metal bar
with a single
curved end and
flattened points,
often with a small
fissure on one or
both ends for
removing nails or
to force apart
two objects. The
iron lever is
commonly used
to open nailed
wooden crates or
pry apart boards.
8. Hammer A hammer is a
tool, most often a
hand tool,
consisting of a
weighted "head"
fixed to a long
handle that is
swung to deliver
an impact to a
small area of an
object.
9. Gloves Work gloves are
ideal for
protecting hands
in the workplace
and are an
important safety
consideration
across a wide
variety of
industries and
fields.
10. Rubber Designed to
boots provide
maximum
support to the
foot and ankle,
the rubber boots
are comfortable
to wear and have
a reinforced
toecap to protect
delicate toes
from dropped
objects and
rough terrain.
Safety They protect your
Goggles eyes from a
myriad of
potential hazards
at work, home
and outdoors.
Safety Belt A safety belt is a
device that is
worn around a
person's waist to
serve as a direct
connection point
to a lifeline or
elevated
structure. It is
worn to arrest a
fall and protect a
worker from a
sudden descent
and associated
hazards when
working at an
elevated height.
Measureme A tape measure
nt Tape or measuring
tape is a flexible
ruler used to
measure size or
distance. It
consists of a
ribbon of cloth,
plastic, fibre
glass, or metal
strip with linear-
measurement
markings. It is a
common
measuring tool.
Chisels A chisel is a tool
that has a long
metal blade with
a sharp edge at
the end. It is used
for cutting and
shaping wood
and stone.
