Course Outline
OBJECTIVE
This course is designed to enable students to comprehend and understand about Grammar and reading in
English languages at pre-intermediate level. Firstly, the lessons will emphasize on mastering basic
grammar and identifying main and supporting ideas of different types texts related to the students’ field
of study.
STANDARD COMPETENCE
By the end of the semester, students are able to understand, relate, and apply the grammar and reading
materials in their field of study. They are also expected to improve their vocabulary mastery, especially
the ones related to Psychology.
CONTENTS
Reading materials are taken from some FLSP books and other internet sources based on perceived
students’ need and their field of study. There is a possibility for students to suggest some learning
materials for the classroom activities.
ACTIVITIES
Classroom activities are based on interactive schemes with communicative approach, formulated as
follows: conversation, discussion, presentation, role-play, and game. Some activities may be performed
individually, in pairs, or in groups. Classroom will be conducted both Synchronous and Asynchronous.
Platform used will be Zoom meeting/ Google meets, Telegram Group, and Canvas.
EVALUATION
The final evaluation will be accumulated based on attendances (15%), quizzes, assignments and daily
performances (20%), midterm examination (30%), and final examination (35%).
REFERENCES
The materials for this course are taken from any relevant sources related to the topic, such as FLSP
Book, Reform Magazine, etc.
COURSE POLICIES
In order to complete the course successfully, students must pay attention to these points:
Attendance, students must attend the class regularly (minimum 80%) – 3 times absence (including sick
leaves and others), except university events.
Work Submission, students have to submit all the assignments on the day that has been decided.
Students should provide a doctor’s certificate or a letter explaining why they cannot come to the class.
Furthermore, students must come to the class on time. The time limit for coming late is 15 minutes.
Participation, students should be fully engaged in each classroom activities. They are expected to be
active in class discussions, classroom activities, group work, and presentations. They may also show
their participation by asking questions, giving answers, and sharing opinions with their fellow.
