CONDITIONAL SENTENCES

Câu điều kiện loại 0: Nói về một sự thật hiển nhiên

Present + Present
e.g: If you heat the ice, it melts
Câu điều kiện loại I: Nói về một việc có thể thực sự xảy ra ở hiện tại hoặc trong
tương lai
Present + will/should/may/might + V bare
e.g: If you don’t do your homework, you will get a minus
Câu điều kiện loại II: Nói về việc mà người nói tin rằng sự việc thật sự sẽ không xảy
ra ở hiện tại -> Nói những điều ngược với hiện tại
Past simple + would/ could + V bare
e.g: If I knew the answer, I would tell you
Câu điều kiện loại III: Nói về việc đã không xảy ra trong quá khứ -> Nói những điều
ngược lại với những điều đã xảy ra trong quá khứ
Past perfect + would/could have + V3/ed
e.g: If I had studied harder, I would have passed the exam
Câu điều kiện hỗn hợp: Nói về việc đã không xảy ra trong quá khứ dẫn đến kết quả
không thật ở hiện tại (signal: now)
Past perfect + would/could + V bare
e.g: If I had not stayed up late last night, I wouldn’t be so tired now
If we had listened to our parents, we wouldn’t be in trouble now

1. Đảo ngữ câu điều kiện loại I: -> Đưa should lên đầu
Should + S + (not) + V bare
e.g: If you don’t do your homework, you will get a minus
-> Should you not do your homework, you will get a minus
2. Đảo ngữ câu điều kiện loại II: -> Đưa were lên đầu
Were + S + (not) + (to V)
e.g: If I were a bird, I would fly
-> Were I a bird, I would fly
If I were you, I wouldn’t do that

➔ Were I to know the answer, I would tell you
3. Đảo ngữ câu điều kiện loại III/ hỗn hợp: Đưa had lên đầu
Had + S + V3/ed
e.g: If I had studied harder, I would have passed the exam
-> Had I studied harder, I would have passes the exam.
If I had not stayed up late last night, I wouldn’t be so tired now
