MINUTES OF INTERVIEW

Name of Activity: Socio-Demographic Profiling

Name of Interviewer: Jelyza Jade D. Biol
Name of Interviewee #1: Gloryjane A. Biol
Date and Time: April 30, 2021, 1:20 pm
Duration: 15 minutes
Location: Sitio File, Brgy. Mat-I, Surigao City
Purpose of the Interview: To be able to accumulate data that serves as
the basis for the academic documentation.

Summary:
Ms. Gloryjane Biol is currently living at Sitio File, Brgy. Mat-i which is 4 or 5 minutes
away from our house. I had to travel for 4 to 5 minutes with my brother to be at the house of my
aunt and my younger brother is also the one who captured pictures for my documentation. As soon
as I reached Ms. Gloryjane’s house, she welcomed me wholeheartedly and I also greeted her.
When I finally came to their house, I saw Ms. Gloryjane sitting while surfing at her cellphone.
When I asked permission about conducting an interview about their family, she immediately said
“Oo sure! Way problema.” without any hesitations. Although she already knew me but I still have
to introduce myself for formality and a sign of respect also for her right to know the name of the
person who will going to interview her especially that she is not familiar with my real name or my
full name. I then explained about the purpose of the interview and assured her that her responses
and the pictures taken will be used only for academic purposes.
During the interview process, her live-in partner called Ms. Gloryjane and I also had the
chance to ask her partner some questions. Therefore, in the middle of the interview, especially on
the part where they will be asked about the problems and needs identified within their family or as
a resident of the community, it is already the two of them who participated in the interview process.
As for the answering of questions, both of them responded so well. The interview went smoothly
since both interviewees are cooperating well and it also ended successfully.

Interviewer’s Analysis:
• Accommodating, full of enthusiasm and cooperative
As soon as the interviewee gave her permission, I then started asking questions using
the survey questionnaire. I observed that the moment I asked for permission, she immediately
responded “Oo sure. Way problema.” with enthusiasm and that is when I assumed that she is
not busy at all because of the way how she accommodate me.
• Has another problem that is not mentioned in the survey questionnaire
When I ask her if there are other problems that their family is facing, she responded
“Daghan, usa ana kay pinansyal.”. I realized then that if I were going to ask the same question
to other families who are living at their Sitio, they will probably give the same answer because
a lot of families are really struggling when it comes to financial especially that we are currently
experiencing pandemic.
• Has a feeling of regret and frustration
When I asked her about her highest educational attainment, she responded “3rd year
High school ra man” with a little sense of regret or frustration and I thought that maybe she
has a strong desire to finish her studies but probably due to some circumstances like having
financial problem, she was not able to finish high school and was not able enter college.
• Has limited knowledge about the existing agencies
I asked her about what agencies she often approach when their family needs help, I
noticed that she somehow encountered a difficulty answering my question but I asked her
follow-up question like “Mangayo pud ka tabang te sa DSWD/CSWD?”, and later on she
answered “DSWD” as she remembered that she once approach DSWD/CSWD before with the
help of her friend. I also thought then that maybe Ms. Gloryjane has a limited knowledge about
the existing agencies in our country in which other people may also have the same case like
this and they must be informed what agencies are there that are willing to help those people
who are in need for them also to be helped.

Date and Time: April 30, 2021 – 1:50 pm
Duration: 15 minutes
Location: Sitio File, Brgy. Mat-I, Surigao City
Purpose of the Interview: To be able to accumulate data that serves as

Summary:
Mr. Estampa’s is 3-5 minutes away from us. Upon arriving at their house, I immediately
asked him a permission to conduct an interview and luckily he said yes without hesitations. I also
introduced myself formally and explained to him the purpose of the interview and what kind of

he responded and also his facial expressions. I can sense that he took the interview seriously in a
way that he responded quickly and sincerely accompanied also with a light facial expression. The
interview ended successfully since Mr. Estampa cooperates very well.

Interviewer’s Insights:
• Full of pain but has a forgiving heart

During the interview process, I discovered that his wife had an affair while working
in Manila. Asking him a questions needs to have an eye to eye contact and by that, I saw
his eyes full of pain for what his wife did to their family but I also see a kind man in his
eyes who’s willing to forgive for the sake of his family. He is indeed so kind and everyone
will surely see his kind personality.

Summary:
Mr. Aldonza is one of our neighbor so he is only within my reach. That day when I

• Has a strong determination to help his children finish their studies
This is what I have observed all throughout the interview process. His two children is
currently a college student and sustaining the needs of a college student especially their tuition
requires every parent to spend a lot of money. What I can see in Mr. Aldonza is the his strong
determination to help his children finish their studies and by just paying attention to his answer
especially about their children and the way how he responded, it can be said that he really
sacrifices a lot for his family.

When I first approach Ms. Fabiana, she told me that she will only be available during

was very accommodating and she responded well to my questions. Her house is few blocks away
from us and upon arriving at their house, she then welcomed me and she even apologized for
scheduling the interview at night. I then introduced myself formally and explained to her the
purposes of the interview. I also explained what kinds of questions that she will going to answer.
The interview ended smoothly since the interviewee is very cooperative.

Interviewer’s Analysis:
• Has a feeling of exhaustion, determination, sacrifices and perseverance
During the interview session, I can sense a little exhaustion in his voice especially when
she answered me “Tungod sa dili permanente ako trabaho, ug wa nako bana ug halos tanan
man diri samu sitio naglisud sa panginabuhi, labi na nimahal karajaw ang palitunon”, I can
really say that ended life become more difficult and raising a family without a husband is really
more difficult. Despite the exhaustion that she is feeling, I still admire her for her strong
determination, sacrifices and perseverance in raising her family or her children alone. She kept
on going despite hardships that they are struggling with.
