Find the reactions R , and R, induced at the supports A and B of the right-angle bar ACB supported as shown in figure and subjected to a vertical load P applied at the midpoint of AC. Three cylinders are piled up in a rectangular channel as shown in Fig. 3.21(a). Determine the reactions at point 6 between the cylinder 4 and the vertical wall of the channel (Cylinder A : radius = 4 cm, m= 15 kg, Cylinder B : radius = 6 cm, m = 40 kg, Cylinder C : radius = 5 cm, m = 20 kg). Fig. 3.21(2) A force F with a magnitude of 150 N is applied at the origin O of the axes x, y and z as shown in the figure. The line of action of F passes through a point A whose coordinates are 2m, 4 m and 6 m. Determine, (a) The x, y, and z scalar components of F (b) The projection of F on x-y plane, and (c)_ The projection of F along the line OB. Zz ' 1 1 1 (a) The hook shown in figure is connected to three cables. What is the resultant force on the hook? A bar AB hinged to the foundation at A and supported by a strut CD is subjected to a horizontal 50 kN load at B, as shown in Fig. 1. Determine the nature and magnitude of the force _ in the strut and also the reaction at A. A rigid bar is subjected to a system of parallel forces as shown in figure. Reduce this system to, (a) Asingle force (b) A single force-moment system at A and (c) Asingle force-moment system at B. 20 N 60.N 10N 35. N A boom AB is supported in a horizontal position by a hinge A and a cable which runs from C over a small pulley at D as shown in Fig. Compute the tension T in the cable and the horizontal and vertical components of the reaction at A. Neglect the weight of the boom and the size of the pulley at D. 100N A ladder supported at A and B, as shown in figure, a vertical load W can have any posi- tion as defined by the distance ‘a’ from the bottom. Neglecting friction, determine the magnitude of the reaction R,, at B. Neglect the wont of the ladder.
