2. A.
As brilliant as Plato’s Allegory of the Cave is, it still seems to be quite confusing when it comes to the
definition of reality, which does not work when the cognition of reality with five senses is not included. On
the one hand, by tapping into the theme of humans’ imperfections, particularly, the lack of objectivity in
envisioning the world, Plato creates a very powerful argument on the flaws of the human nature.

This argument could be really viable, if reality itself could be anything else but the representation of
people’s sensory experiences. In other world, without the sensations, which, according to Plato, make
people’s conclusions about the world so erroneous, there would be no way to envision reality. The allegory
is a good example of explaining the feature of the way people think. It is a concept that demonstrates how
humans are fearful of change and what they don’t know. Plato says that men are living in an underground
cave and it is a situation. The Allegory of the Cave is Plato's explanation of the education of the soul
toward enlightenment. Plato talks about being free, everyday life, knowledge, and essentially what he
wrote to be true.

To put it simpler, relying on senses does lead to making mistakes, yet without senses, there is no universe.
People are unable to envision the world without the information that they are used to receiving; the
information of any other kind would be either defied or missed entirely.

4. New Hope Dam

The project New Hope Dam is a threat to the still biodiverse-rich forest ecosystem within the ancestral
domains of Dumagats. My stand is for the Dumagats and for the environment. We must always protect the
environment at all cost.

The construction of large dams continues to fuel an intense debate between dam proponents and
opponents, a debate which hinges on different perceptions of the economic, social, and environmental
benefits and impacts of large dams. Highly controversial undertakings, large dams are seen by their
proponents as a relatively efficient means to store critically needed water, to produce electricity, and to
control the flow of rivers. Critics cite their negative environmental and social impacts, particularly the
relocation of masses of people, who are largely members of indigenous and politically marginal
socioeconomic communities.

Presuming that there is indeed a water crisis, maybe because of global warming or climate change, is
constructing new mega-dams the solution? We don’t believe so. And we are certain that if our environment
could speak our words…that would also be her answer…a BIG NO! We don’t need new mega-dams to
provide us with our water needs! We need more trees! We need more forests!

"We have welcomed change in the name of progress, development and modernization. This being so, why
should we object when tribal culture changes? A culture based on lower levels of technology and quality of
life is bound to give way to a culture with a superior technology and higher quality of life. This is
development. What has happened to us is bound to happen to them because we are part of the same
society.”
