Our focus for this artifact was the creation of an index noting all the words related to the people
in Joe Brainard’s life in his memoir, I Remember, by identifying and then organizing
alphabetically words which were related to people who made an impact on Joe Brainard - his
family, friendships, and anyone else who affected him enough for him to remember.

From birth, we are in constant interaction with others; from relatives with whom we live most of our early
lives to friends who we meet as we develop into adults and even some who just happen to catch our eye,
we are always impacted by those around us. Throughout our lives, whether its the people we see once
when crossing the street or those we observe in the artistic media we follow, we can affirm that these
interactions can have both positive and negative impacts on our lives.

In this way the poem handles a wide variety of vocabulary that refers to people, persons, family, and
friends to present the extensive memories that the author has, using said vocabulary to express the
importance of the relationship that he had with different people and that throughout the poem evolves.

Likewise, to identify the importance of family, people, and friends to the author, and for the creation of this
index, we first identified all those words that referred to this topic and the pages in which words found it,
then we defined the categories that we were going to handle based on the most relevant categories, and
in this way, we organized and unified the terms of reference in the alphabetical form to finally define the
most pertinent and frequent in the poem and thus be able to carry out the analysis.
Reading reflection points:
● Joe didn’t mention brother much
● Mother mentioned more in second half
