PTTEP Myanmar Asset awards Twenty Myanmar Students High Vocational

Diploma Scholarships worth US$200,000

25 October 2019, Yangon, Myanmar – PTTEP Myanmar Asset awarded High


Vocational Diploma Scholarships (HVD) to 20 Myanmar students at the 2019
scholarships awarding ceremony at Pullman Yangon Centrepoint Hotel today. The
award ceremony was graced by U Than Zaw, Director General of Oil and Gas
Planning Department (OGPD), Ministry of Electricity and Energy (MOEE), Dr.
Myo Thura, Director and Principal of Department of Technical and Vocational
Education and Training (TVET) Myanmar, Ministry of Education (MOE), Mr.
Wisarn Chawalitanon, Senior Executive Vice President of International Marketing,
PTT Group.
 
Initiated by PTT Group and its subsidiaries[1], the HVD Scholarship Program was
launched in 2013 with the support and collaboration of MOEE and MOE. Under
the program, eligible Myanmar students from the Associate of Government
Technical Institute (AGTI) undergo three years of vocational education and
training at the IRPC Technological College (IRPCT) in Rayong, Thailand. 
 
2019 marks PTT Group’s seventh year running the full, bond-free scholarship
program in Myanmar. To date, 170 scholarships worth US$1.96 million in total
have been awarded to Myanmar students, and 83 Myanmar HVD scholars have
graduated from the program.
 
“Throughout our 30 years of operations in Myanmar, PTTEP has invested in the
improvement of the community’s livelihoods and the development of the country,”
commented Mr. Piya Sukhumpanumet, General Manager of PTTEP Myanmar
Asset. “The HVD scholarship program is one of our CSR initiatives, aimed at
developing a skilled and competent workforce to drive Myanmar’s economic
growth.”
 
“We are honored to be part of Myanmar’s sustainable development and look
forward to continue collaborating with the Government to develop human capital
in Myanmar,” he added.
 
Incorporating both classroom, practicum and on-the-job internship training, the
curriculum is designed to equip students with workplace communications and
technical mechanical skills that are required for industry trades, such as electrical
and electronics, mechanical drawings, welding and CNC[2] machining. Students
are also trained in personal finance, business and entrepreneurship. 
 
“A good quality education plays a vital role for the sustainable development of any
country. The collaboration with PTTEP Myanmar Asset through the HVD
scholarship program is aimed at addressing the need for skilled labor in Myanmar.
PTTEP Myanmar Asset’s support helps deserving individuals acquire training and
qualification in various fields, which is required for Myanmar’s socio-economic
development. We look to forward to helping students improve their skills and gain
better employment in future,” said Dr. Myo Thura, Director and Principal of
Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Myanmar, Ministry of
Education.
 
“I am delighted and very grateful to be given the opportunity to study abroad.
Upon graduation, I intend to give back to the community by using and sharing
what I learn with others,” said Mg Thein Htet, one of this year’s HVD scholarship
awardees.

Third Batch of High Vocational Diploma

09 April 2019, Yangon, Myanmar – PTTEP Myanmar Asset presented


recognition certificates to 15 Myanmar scholarship students from third batch of
High Vocational Diploma Scholarship Program (HVD) at IRPCT College, Rayong
Province, Thailand on 28 March 2019. The graduation ceremony was attended by
General Manager of PTTEP Myanmar Asset, Mr. Piya Sukhumpanumet together
with Director General of Oil and Gas Planning Department (OGPD), Ministry of
Electricity and Energy (MOEE) and other representatives from Ministry of
Education.

At the ceremony, PTTEP Myanmar Asset’s General Manager, Mr. Piya


Sukhumpanumet said, “This year is 30th anniversary of PTTEP in Myanmar, and
throughout our operating years, PTTEP Myanmar Asset has continuingly invested
in building a skilled and competent workforce for both our business and the
country’s development. Therefore, we implemented various educational programs
for Myanmar students and employees. Since the talented young people play as a
main role in shaping the future of the country, we introduced the HVD Scholarship
Program to empower a competent workforce for the country’s development.”
 
“Moreover, PTTEP Myanmar Asset provides trainings in both domestic and
oversea for the career development of our national employees. Currently, the ratio
of Myanmar employees at PTTEP Myanmar Asset is 59 percent and we expect to
further increase up to 75 percent by 2023.” Mr. Piya said.
 
Launched in 2013, the HVD Scholarship Program is a full, bond-free scholarship
program offered by PTT Group and its subsidiaries, including PTTEP, Thai Oil
Public Company Limited (TOP), PTT Global Chemical Public Company Limited
(PTTGC), Global Power Synergy Plc. (GPSC) and IRPCT, to Myanmar students
from the Associate of Government Technical Institute (AGTI). Under this
program, students undergo four years of vocational education in Mechanical at the
IRPCT including internship period in Thailand. To date, the HVD Scholarship
program has granted 150 scholarships to the students from ASEAN Economic
Community (AEC) countries.

PTTEP Myanmar Asset Congratulates Second Batch of Myanmar High Vocational


Diploma Scholarship Graduates

05 April 2018, Yangon, Myanmar – By 2020, PTTEP Myanmar Asset plans to


have 75 percent of its Myanmar workforce staffed by local employees. Currently,
about 55 percent of PTTEP Myanmar Asset’s workforces are local staff. This was
announced by Mr. Piya Sukhumpanumet, General Manager, PTTEP International
Limited, Yangon branch (PTTEPI), at the graduation ceremony of the second batch
of Myanmar students from PTT Group’s High Vocational Diploma (HVD)
Scholarship Program. The ceremony was held at IRPC Technological College
(IRPCT), Rayong, Thailand, on 28 March 2018.

“Throughout our 29 years of operations in Myanmar, PTTEP Myanmar Asset has


invested heavily in building a skilled and competent workforce for both our
business and the country’s development. We have implemented various initiatives,
such as the HVD Scholarship Program and the Career Development Program[1], to
develop not only our employees but the wider Myanmar workforce as well.” Mr.
Piya said. “I am glad to witness the graduation of the second batch of HVD
students today, and would like to congratulate each and every one of them on their
success.”

31 students received their diploma certificates at the ceremony, which was graced
by U Htay Aung, Deputy Permanent Secretary, Ministry Office, Myanmar
Ministry of Electricity and Energy; Dr. Nay Myo Tun, Deputy Director General,
Department of Technical and Vocational Education and Training, Myanmar
Ministry of Education; Mr. Nopporn Chuchinda, Executive Vice President,
International Strategy and Development, PTT Group; and Mr. Piya.

The HVD Scholarship Program is a full, bond-free scholarship program offered by


PTT Group to Myanmar students from the Associate of Government Technical
Institute (AGTI). Under the program, students undergo four years of vocational
education and training at the IRPCT in Thailand.

Incorporating both classroom, practicum and on-the-job internship training, the


curriculum is designed to equip students with workplace communications and
technical mechanical skills that are required for industry trades, such as electrical
and electronics, mechanical drawings, welding and CNC[2] machining. Students
are also trained in personal finance, business and entrepreneurship.

“Our hope for all HVD graduates is that the training program will bring more
opportunities for their future and open the door to good jobs that will drive
Myanmar’s long-term growth,” Mr. Piya explained. “We are honored to be part of
Myanmar’s sustainable development and look forward to continuing our
collaboration with the Government to grow human capital in Myanmar.”

Initiated by PTT Group and its subsidiaries[3], the HVD Scholarship Program was
launched in 2013 with the support and collaboration of Myanmar’s Ministry of
Electricity and Energy and Ministry of Education. To date, 130 scholarships have
been awarded to Myanmar students and 68 Myanmar HVD scholars have
graduated from the program.

“Today’s graduation ceremony serves as an excellent example of the cooperation


between Myanmar and Thailand. I hope that PTT Group will continue to sponsor
such scholarships for many years to come,” said U Htay Aung.

Dr. Nay Myo Tun added: “Education does not only happen inside the classroom. It
can be gained everywhere as long as you do not stop learning and broadening your
horizons. Whether you would work for PTT Group or other companies, I wish that
every one of you would ultimately capture opportunities to gain hands-on
experience and eventually be a part of supporting the country’s development in the
near future.”

[1] PTTEP Myanmar Asset’s Career Development Program was started since
2016. The program targeted at existing employees in order to enhance both staff
capabilities and soft skill by providing any training courses and on the job
assignment. Under this program, 10 Myanmar employees have been sent to PTTEP
headquarters in Thailand for attending on the job assignment.

PTTEP Myanmar Asset Continues to Support Myanmar’s Human Capital
Development with its Sixth High Vocational Diploma Scholarship Program

09 November 2018, Yangon, Myanmar – PTTEP Myanmar Asset, together with


PTT Group, the Myanmar Ministry of Electricity and Energy and Ministry of
Education, granted twenty students High Vocational Diploma Scholarships (HVD)
at the award ceremony at Novotel Yangon Max hotel today; reinforcing its
commitment to developing highly competent manpower to support grooving
Myanmar economy, especially within oil & gas industry.

The award ceremony was honored by the presence of U Htay Aung, Deputy
Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Electricity and Energy, Dr. Aye Myint, Director
General, Ministry of Education and Ms. Sunee Areekul, Executive Vice President,
International Business Strategy and Development, PTT Group.

“A skilled and competent workforce is essential for Myanmar’s pathway to


sustainable growth. To meet the growing demand for talent, PTTEP Myanmar
Asset introduced the HVD Scholarship Program in 2013 to help develop and
empower a strong and capable workforce to drive the country’s development,”
commented Mr. Piya Sukhumpanumet, General Manager, PTTEP Myanmar Asset
at the event.

“In March this year, we celebrated the graduation of 31 Myanmar individuals from
the second batch of HVD students. I am glad to be able to welcome another 20
deserving students to the sixth edition of the scholarship program, and encourage
each of you to maximize this opportunity to improve your capabilities and future
prospects,” he added.

as Oil & Gas need local, skillful workforce. Vocational training, where students
learn not only theory but practice, are essential to ensure Myanmar’s economy has
the capacity to thrive,” he said. “Now into its fifth year, the HVD scholarship
program is an excellent example of the continuous cooperation between Myanmar
and Thailand. I look forward to more of such collaborative initiatives that facilities
the sharing knowledge and building common experience with our neighbours.”
