PERSONAL CAREER PLAN

Subject: My Personal Plan that I will use to pursue my Career in coming future.

1.0 INTRODUCTION

A successful career is the backbone of a successful life. The Beacon of Talent, I am a man of
creativity. Therefor I made my Personal Career Plan that I would utilize to end up with a
happier and prosperous future for the later part of my life.

2.0 IDEAL JOB

The basic dream job for anyone, what one wants to be or what field of any occupation to
choose.

2.1 SUCCESS OF CAREER

Success of any Career revolves around the idea of Profit & loss by the end of the day. I have
to attain a Job that is not only Fruitful for some period of time but instead it should be
Respectable and have properties of my deep interest. It should give me the satisfaction of a
Secure Future for not only me but my Family as well.

2.2 RESEARCH

The best suitable job to me is to be an Engineer in an Automotive Company. I chose

Automotive because I feel like it is much more fun and interesting to take part in the
development of something that without which the world today cannot survive for even a
single day. This Field has the most prominent room for improvement and future chances of
good job opportunities are also imminent. I came across the fact that for Automobile
Engineering, Jobs are basically classified into the following Categories:

 Sales Department
 Technical Department
 Administration Department

Reading some forums revealed that Normally Salaries for an Engineer are in handsome
amount and further facilities are also provided, for instance; free Phone Usage, certain
amount of Free Fuel per month and after a few years a new House

2.3 LIST OF SUITABLE JOBS

Automotive Field is very diverse and is sub-divided into many Categories for Engineers.
Some of the most interesting jobs are to work for:

 Product Planning & Pricing Management

 R & D Department
 Sales Management
 Technical Department
 Chassis, Aerodynamics & Vehicle Platform Department.

Although there are many other Departments and systems in an Organization but Tasks such
as Critical thinking in Research & Development are likely of my taste because I dream to
create new breakthroughs.

2.4 KEY COMPETENCES REQUIRED

Everything comes at a price. In order to attain my Dream job, I must possess something that
is a bit extra-ordinary from the others to make me stand Unique from the crowd.

I would need to have a Good first Class Honors Degree along with 3-4 Years work
experience. In order to make me a Strong Candidate, I would need additional skills such as IT
experience along with Good Business Communications Skills.

2.5 SHORT-LISTING

The most favorable job for me is to work as an Engineer in the Technical Department for
BMW Malaysia specialized for Research & Development Departments since it acts as a
Middle Person between Management and Sales Department so the work load is not excessive
and thus there is flexibility in time management.

2.6 STEPS NECESSARY

In order to make sure my desired designation is attained, I Plan to do Internship with BMW
UK in their Graduate Trainee Program. A certificate of internship from BMW itself would be
more feasible to BMW Malaysia since I would already be aware with the company’s policies
and work environment. A strong recommendation would be vital so I must prove myself to be
worthy of my desired job. In that case I will be taking part in extra activities relating to my
field of interest along with remarkable efforts in my Studies to make my Final GPA
exceptional.

3.0 SELF ASSESSMENT

I feel myself as a well-deserved candidate for my Ideal Job due to these properties of my
character.

3.1 POSITIVE ASPECTS

As a student, I have great skills of Understanding mechanical systems and have a lot of
experience with engineering competitions and exhibitions. My School Teachers used to say
that I am one of those God gifted students who are naturally born with such talents of
creativity. Some of my awards are as follows.

 1st Prize at National Level in an Engineering Competition

 Certificate of Honor for Providing Support to School Staff for Science Exhibition
 Certificate of Merit for Student of the Year 2008
 1st Prize at Provincial Level in Science Competition

I have great sense of responsibility and time management. Currently I am working part-time
as Student Ambassador at AP-UCTI Malaysia. Also I have been the school yearly Magazine
Editor Twice at my College.

3.2 NEGATIVE ASPECTS

Anything in this world is not perfect. Some of my weaknesses are that I lack actual Field
Experience of a Full-Time job. Many companies require 4-5 years of experience before I
could be eligible to apply and also I am a little bit short tempered. If only I could learn to be
patient then I can be much stronger.

4.0 GAP ANALYSIS

I need to analyze the Key requirements that I must meet to make my dream come true.

Perhaps the most critical part constraining me from obtaining my objective is that I am
lacking actual industrial experience. I can do a year In-Industry Internship during the third
year of my Studies with BMW UK as Reliability Coordinator 0-2000km. It would give me a
chance to get a head start in the automotive industry and earn me one year of experience from
within BMW!

Moreover, it would be awesome if I could attain an International Driver’s License so that I

can actually Test Drive Cars in order to make my job more interesting. If I get fair enough
GPA credits in my Undergraduate degree then I would be a really strong candidate for this
Particular Job.

My Priority would be to maintain focus on my education and then try my level best to attain
Internship at BMW UK. With time, I would learn to be more patient to improve my
personality.

5.0 PRELIMINRY PLAN

To be successful I need confidence, experience and the sufficient knowledge to prove my

desire for the chosen career.

In order to bridge the gap for knowledge, I am doing my degree from a well-recognized
international university. During the third year of my education I would do my Internship.

During University life I would be taking part in Various Events and activities to maintain my
Co-curricular activity as well. Gaining sufficient experience of 3-4 years from reputed
companies would take the longest time.

6.0 DISCUSSION WITH MENTOR

I chose the University Student Ambassador as my Mentor.

Initially I had my plan to work with BMW UK for Internship. It came to my knowledge that
going to UK just for an Internship would be extremely expensive, especially for R & D
Departments. It’s not very easy to get a job in any Multinational company and even if I do get
the job then would not always in the department of my choice, some compensation has to be
made.

I was advised to get placement in any Maintenance department since it is the only
Department which has links with all other departments regardless of which company. Only
then I would get to see all the different kinds of machines every day while making prestigious
contacts as I go on. I would get much more Industrial Exposure rather than working in one
department only.

Later I can go to UK for Work because BMW Malaysia currently does not support R & D
Department and also salaries in UK are much higher. Moreover R & D Departments not only
require years of experience but also a Master’s Degree.

7.0 IMMPLEMENTAION

So this is where it all comes together. After my research, brain storming & interview, in order
to be successful in full filling my dream I would follow a plan that is as follows.

Firstly I would complete my Degree in First Class Honors and during my Studies I would do
Internship at Malaysia Preferably with BMW Motorrad as it is closest to Technical work. If
not in BMW, then I would work with any other company’s Pit shop since it is closest to
Maintenance Department.

After Graduation, I would for jobs in Technical Departments at all companies including
major and minor both. I would not regret if I get job at a smaller company but there I would
work for not more than 3 years. By that time I would have earned enough money which I
would utilize to do a Master’s Degree in Automation from Canada and then return back to
claim my well-deserved Ideal Job in R & D Department at BMW UK.

8.0 CONCLUSION

Although everything is thought out and everything as currently is going all according to plane
but there is always room for improvement. I would not hesitate to seize any other good
opportunity that would prove to be alternate to my successful career. I would have an
extremely awesome International Exposure.
