Communication: Expressing/exchanging opinions

Journalist: Pr Briggs, what is your opinion about technology?

Pr Briggs: As I see it, technology extends our ability to change the world, to design and build tools as well as
systems to exploit natural phenomenon for practical human means
Journalist: Perfect; but, what do you think of people who depend a lot on technology?
Pr Briggs: Well, from my point of view, people become obsessed with technology; which gives them a
mechanical mentality that finally drives most of them to mental hospital.
Journalist: In your opinion, who are likely to be confronted with this risk?
Pr Briggs: As far as I am concerned, my medical journal proves that youths are more posed to this risk. They
spend 12 to 16 hours on the computers which replace their face-to-face contacts with their friends-
and finally dominate their life completely. And, by the way, Psychologists believe this is a kind of
obsession which they name “Computer addiction”.
Journalist: What can you advise the youths to reduce “Computer addiction”?
Pr Briggs: Ummh…, I guess they should limit the amount of time spent on the computer to one hour per night
in favour of extending relationships with family members and friends.
