Based on description, our target area consists of quaternary sediment and the
elevation around 20-30m. This sediment relatively unconsolidated rock. Based on this
condition, the dip angle of this material will follow the morphology below the surface
(bedrock) and getting gentler to the surface. The dip direction of this material will be
relatively to the South because there is a higher place which contain almost consolidated
material (orange color) in the North of target area.

The orientation of this material will difficult to be distinguish. However, we can find
this material in the bottom part of some borehole near the target area. It means that this
material separated widely below quaternary sediment (light yellow color). From the map,
the nearest borehole is around 670m from the target area, so called ML93-M2 in the West
and M94-E04 in the South (picture1). This borehole’s elevation and depth is 30.5m,
9.45m, 15m, 40m sequentially.

1. Position of soil-rock interface in target area

From Picture 1, I interpretated that the elevation of target area and the ML93-M2
is relatively the same, 30.5m. Based on this, we can identify the position of interface
in the target area using ML93-M2 and M94-E04 (Picture 2). From the picture, the
position of interface in target area around 37.5m depth.

2. What is 40m depth in target area?

From the picture 3, we can know that the sandstone is the rock unit in 40m depth
below target area.

3. Cross Section

Cross section of A-A’ and B-B’ are used to identify the position and continuity of
interface below the surface (Picture 4 and 5). However, there is still uncertainty
because the borehole is far from target area and there is no borehole between target
area and outcrops of bed rock (red area). From A-A’ cross section, I interpretated that
the interface line (black dash line) relatively has steep angle in the North of target area
and getting gentler to the South of target area. B-B’ cross section show that the
interface line relatively horizontal below the target area.

4. Suggestion

From those issues, I suggest to put 4 new boreholes near target area to reduce
the uncertainty of the interface line (Picture 6). The NB-1 will reach 35m depth, NB-2,
NB-3, and NB-4 are 40m depth. Not only to reduce the uncertainty of interface
position, the new boreholes will help to make sure the continuity of layer within target
area because the changing of facies within sediment is fast based on logging
description.
