Modern society has brought us enormous and complex situations.
One of those is the lack of
housing in towns and cities. The property value in the cities is constantly rising over time, and it is necessary to seek a balance between building sustainable cities and give people a decent life quality. Nevertheless, currently exists a big gap between cost and people’s income to buy a new house. It can exist multiple solutions to this problematic, but one of them is to renovate existing empty properties. In big cities mainly, there are houses, apartments, or even abandoned buildings waiting for someone to use them. For that reason, recondition these spaces could bring in some issues. The initial investment could be considerably high, depending on the property condition, and it is a long-term investment return. Also, this proposal could lead to an undesirable overpopulation in towns and cities in terms of sustainability. The existing housing offering in the big cities no longer offers an acceptable life quality to its population. In this case, a feasible solution would be extending the suburbs under an intelligent expansion plan, firstly allowing families to afford a house since prices are considerably lower than in cities This solution might relieve the cities from their crowded lives, bringing more people to the suburbs; however, urban planning needs to be present all the time. Therefore, it is urgent to find a solution to our crowded cities and unaffordable prices, and extending the suburbs seems to be the most suitable solution.
