FOCUS

Reading and Writing

This sharing session focuses on Year 1, Year 2 and Year 3 classes. A program called Reading
and Writing is our panel initiative to assist pupils that do not pass Band 3 and above in the PBD
assessment.

INTERPRETATION

As per phase 1 PBD assessment, 37.2% of 43 pupils are still in

Band 2.
Based on this, we identify that these pupils are having difficulties in reading and therefore in writing
as well. These difficulties include segmenting words, identifying sounds and blending phonemes.

INPUT
Reading and Writing shall encompass remedial activities that generate pupils’ mastery skills and
interest. Activities must include sounds of letters and read along followed by guided writing
exercises.
