Asking sentences and Telling sentences

Asking sentences are sentences that ask about different things and
situations. It ends with a question mark (?)
EXAMPLES:
1. Do you play piano?
2. Is Hongkong big?
3. Where do you live?
4. Did you enjoy your weekend?
5. How is your day?

Telling sentences are sentences that talks about the things around
us. It answers our question on what we want to know.
It ends with a period (.)
EXAMPLES:
1. I got a high score.
2. That is my house.
3. Chicken joy is delicious.
4. I can kick higher than you.
5. An elephant has a long nose.

Arranging words in Alphabetical Order


Words can be arranged following the order of the letters of the
alphabet. This is called alphabetizing.

To put words in alphabetical order, we should look at the first letter


of each word.

chair box

home chair

lamp home

box lamp

table table
Identifying the Number of Syllables in Words

Syllables are small groups of sounds that you hear in each word.
Each syllable must have a vowel sound.

Sometimes syllables are called beats in word.


Word can have one, two, three or more syllables

EXAMPLES:

Dog – 1 syllable
Car – 1 syllable
Tomato – 3 syllables
Today – 2 syllables
Similar - 3 syllables

Homophones and Homographs

Homophones
- same sound
- different meaning

Examples:

Berry bury

Mail male
Homographs
-same spelling
- different meaning

Examples:

bow bow

sink sink
