Initializing Factory Configurations and Clearing A Forgotten Login Password On An ATN Device
Initializing Factory Configurations and Clearing A Forgotten Login Password On An ATN Device
This document provides keys to initializing factory configurations of an ATN device and
clearing a forgotten login password. The following figure shows all the keys.
1
Press the RST button to restore factory
configurations and clear a login
password.
The login password of an ATN device is stored in the configuration file to be loaded during the
device startup. This file stores all device configurations. If an ATN device is started without having
any configuration file specified, the device initializes all configurations into factory configurations up
on startup.
Clearing a device login password is to delete the configuration file to achieve device configuration
initialization without the need of login. For details about how to clear a password, see keys 1 and 2.
Key 3, which applies to an ATN 950/ATN 950B housing dual control boards, is complex and
therefore not recommended. Read the following table to select a key.
Device Type Start Version Key 2 (DIP Switch) Key 1 (RST Button)
Fixed ATNs ATN 905 V200R002C01 - Supported since V200R003C00
Card-inserted ATNs ATN 910 V200R001C00 Supported since V200R001C02 Not supported
Note:
For a fixed ATN device, the RST button is usually used to initialize the factory configurations and clear a login password. However, if the
involved ATN device version is earlier than V200R003C00, the RST button does not support this function. In this situation, contact Huawei
technical support personnel.
For a card-inserted ATN device, the DIP switch is usually used to initialize the factory configurations and clear a login password. However, if
the involved device version is earlier than V200R001C02, the DIP switch does not support this function. In this situation, contact Huawei
technical support personnel.
If you have the login password and only need to initialize factory configurations, run commands directly because this method is simple.
For details about commands, see Appendix: Running Commands Directly to Restore Factory Configurations.

Key 3: Synchronize Configurations Between Master and Slave Control
Boards to Achieve Password Synchronization
Prerequisites: A control board with a known password is obtained. The type and software
package on this board must be the same as those of the control board on which the
password is to be deleted.

The default configuration file is vrpcfg.zip on both control boards. The configuration file synchronized from the
master control board overrides the file with the same name on the slave control board if the configuration files
on both control boards are unchanged.
To delete the password only and remain the existing configurations on the slave control board, change the
name of "vrpcfg.zip" to another name (for example, 201505.zip) on the master control board and perform the
preceding operations. This process prevents overriding the existing configurations on the slave control board.
