- Has led to cancellation of many tours.
- Has led to a large drop in the number of tourists to Malaysia.

The impact on airlines
- Travel bans and plummeting demand around the world have put the
loss-making carrier at risk of bankruptcy.
- AirAsia, Malindo Air and Malaysia Airlines have initiated salary cut on
the employees.
-  Government of China denied entry of foreigners.
- Three major Malaysian based airlines ask the government of Malaysia to
provide support to the airline industry.
The impact on hotel business
- From 11 January to 16 March 2020, more than RM68 million loss in
revenue were caused by the outbreak of COVID-19.
- In Kuala Lumpur, 3% of hotel workers had been laid off, 20% had been
asked to take unpaid leave, and other 16% had faced pay cuts.

Authors want to examine the negative impacts of COVID-19 on the tourism
industry in Malaysia. Authors want readers to understand how serious COVID-
19 is to industry players and why the business should lay off their employees in
order to survive. In addition, Authors also did not forget to mention the
retaliation by the government to address the problem. In conclusion, authors
want readers to understand the adverse effects of COVID-19 on the tourism
industry in Malaysia.

Author’s stance is that COVID-19 have many negative effects on the tourism
industry in Malaysia. As an outsider of the tourism industry, authors have done
a research based on government’s report about the problems faced by the
industry players. Besides, authors also explain how the pandemic affect the
workers’ daily income. For example, some of them are fired while the others
have their salaries cut. Lastly, in this challenging period caused by the of
COVID-19, authors hope that the assistances from the government are enough
to help them survive the crisis. (7m)

the outbreak of COVID-19. The pandemic has affected everyone including the
tourism industry. The business owners have zero revenue while the workers get

dismissed to reduce the operation cost. In reponse to these issues, The
government have done their best to help those affected through several
incentives. However, there are still owners that are forced to shut down their
businesses because of losses and debts. Lastly, authors are not biased in the
article. This is important because this is based on facts, so authors should be
free from third party influence.
Yes, the article really help me in understanding the negative impacts of
COVID-19 on the tourism industry. As a student, my education experience was
severely affected by the pandemic, yet while reading the article, I am sure they
faced a much harder time than mine. I also understand the adverse effects of
COVID-19 on tourism industry in Malaysia such as travel bans causing a
decrease in number of visitors. I also know that most workers in the industry are
either fired or on unpaid leave because of the pandemic. Finally, the text help
me understand government’s stimulus package to support industry players and
