The richness of the Web. The accessibility of the phone. The convergence of these is now forming a vast new
network - a Voice Web - where Internet content can be accessed from any phone, anywhere, using human voice.
What does it look like? Imagine picking up the phone, connecting to your favorite voice portal and asking for
tomorrow's weather report, a current stock quote, or buying a CD. On the Voice Web you can search for a name in
your online address book while you are miles from the nearest Internet connection, and just say "call ……" and
remain on the phone. You can find restaurant reviews, connect to the selected restaurant to make a reservation and
get driving directions while en route. This vision of pervasive access to services over the phone is driven by:

• Banking: Customers can use their natural language to request account information (e.g. account balances, latest
credits and debits) and execute routine transactions (e.g. transfers between accounts).
• Quotes: Allows customers to retrieve up-to-the-minute data on market indices, share prices and option
derivatives. Customer can personalize the scope by specifying the financial instruments that they want to track.
• Trading: Customers get their portfolio status spoken. Sell and buy orders can be placed and their execution

• Financial news: Customers retrieve spoken analyst reports, research and market news. The repository is
navigated with a voice browser that has voice-markers (akin to bookmarks), hyperlinks, history etc.
Alternatively, customers specify filters to capture information on specific markets, sectors and companies. The
portal can also push information based on subscription.

• Investment advice: Investment recommendations can be pushed to or pulled by customers. These
recommendations are tailored to the customers needs based on a stored prior assessment of their investment
objectives and their risk profiles.
The Insonic Finance solution consists of two product lines: Insonic Enterprise is a Voice Portal framework which
contains basic features every voice-centered application needs (e.g. security, personalization, telephony integration,
output channels like WAP or email). The framework is based on a scalable, robust and powerful architecture.
Insonic Finance provides common functionality in the financial services business. The suite is embedded in Insonic
Enterprise and contains several adapters to connect to the company-specific e-commerce platform.
The implementation is based on open standards (e.g. VoiceXML and CORBA), modern programming paradigms
(e.g. Java, Speech Object Framework), best of breed speech technology (e.g. Nuance verifier, recognizer and voice
browser) and multiple operating platforms (e.g. Unix and Microsoft NT). The generic suite is easily customizable
for rapid implementation of unique branded services.
