Charged Up Chancellor Vanquish Cavs

Caroline footbal's season of woes continued Friday night when they faced battlefield district rival
Chancellor, a contest ending with a thorough 42-0 thrashing at the hands of the Chargers.

Just as it has felt all season, Carolines struggles were most conspicuous on offense, mustering a
mere total of just 91 yards of offense, all on the ground. Chancellor on the other hand completely
dominated offensively, scoring six touchdowns, five of them coming from their deadly rushing
atttack. Chancellors runningback, Lehigh University football commit Brycen Edwards,
decimated Carolines run defense, rushing for 110 yards and three all purpose TDs off of just 12
attempts.

Carolines defense started the game strong, with Malik Collins recovering a botched snap fumble
on the very first play of the game. However, Carolines offense was unable to convene much off
the turnover, punting the ball right back to Chancellor after a quick three and out. Carolines
defense looked stout throughout the entire first quarter, holding Chancellor to no points and the
game all tied up at 0-0 entering the second quarter. However, this quickly changed after
Chancellor marched down the field and punched in a one yard Brycen Edwards score to give the
Chargers their first lead of the game. However, with repetition comes fatigue, and the Cavalier
defense could not get off the field for very long before being forced to trot back on after a punt.
Chancellor wore down the Cavaliers run defense, and finished the first half with a 28-0 lead
capped off by two 40+ yard rushing TD’s.
Caroline started the second half with a three and out followed by a fumble, which set the
Chargers up for yet another score. Chancellor exited the game with their starters near the end of
the third quarter after going up 42-0, a result which would stick until the end of the game.
Caroline had one last chance to leave the game with a score after driving all the way down to
Chancellors 11 yard line, however they were blanked on 4th and goal after just their third pass all
night was broken up by Chancellor. Carolines standouts from this affair include Malik Collins,
Sean Maertzig, and Dominique Washington, while none other than Brycen Edwards stole the
show for the Chargers. For Chancellor, the Chargers improve to 3-2 on their covid-wounded
season, while Caroline drops to 0-8. Chancellor will face Culpepper next Friday, while Caroline
ends their road streak next week at home against James Monroe.
