We have reached the

climax of Jesus’
earthly ministry in
the Gospel of Mark,
the crucifixion. In my last sermon, “ThetheLamb Slain,” the
crucifixion. In
Evangelist continues to detail Jesus’ final hours
my lastof suffering. If
you recall, Mark’s entire Gospel has an air of expediency. His
favorite word is “immediately.” Though it is necessary to take
each passage and exposit in detail verse-by-verse sections, it is
easy to lose the sense of immediacy. I encourage you to go back
and read the entire Gospel. Mark rarely slows down.

Our youth are excited about a few upcoming items. They’ve

picked out two angels from the Angel Tree and we’ll likely go
shopping together in the coming weeks. This is a great time of
fellowship and helping those in need. The youth love this so
much that they are also going to buy socks for the homeless! I
look forward to seeing the Christmas Pageant they pull together.
We also had a fruitful conversation on women and
homosexuality in our study Confronting Christianity.

This week, we also concluded the twenty-fifth chapter of the Westminster Confession of Faith,
“Of the Church.” The second half of this chapter addresses the church particular, and how
this church, while a part of the Church visible, is made up of saints and sinners. The chief
concern of the church isn’t so much the riding of every sin, but to correction of error in the
leadership of apostate churches.

Two peculiar creatures are mentioned in the Book of Job, Behemoth and Leviathan. Some
interpreters believe that they were dinosaurs who went extinct during the Flood. Others
interpret them to be a hippopotamus and crocodile. Still others think they are demonic
figures of mythological proportion. The men’s Bible study addressed the nagging question
of why. Why does God even mention them to Job?
