1) A number consists of two digits, the digit in the units’ place being four times that in the tens’ place. If the
digits be inverted, the new number increased by 2 equals three times the old number. Find the number. [ ans: 28]

2) 6 kg of tea at a certain price are mixed with 4 kg of tea costing Tk.1 taka per kg less. The price of the mixture
is Tk.5.60 per kg. Find the price of the dearer (main) kind. [ ans: Tk.6/kg]

3) 5 kg of tea and 12 kg of sugar cost Rs.108, and 9 kg of tea and 5 kg of sugar cost Rs.128. Find the cost of each
per kg.[ ans : Tea Rs. 12/kg, Sugar Rs.4/kg]

4) Two cyclists ride from A to B, a distance of 55 km and the first arrives 30 minutes before the second. They
then ride from B to A, the first giving the second a start of 4 km and yet arriving 6 minutes before him. Find the
rate of each cyclist in km per hour. [ ans : 11 km/h and 10 km/h]

5) A person meeting a company of beggars divided equally all the money he had in his pocket between them. Had
there be 10 more, each would have received Tk 6 less, and had there been 10 fewer, each would have received Tk
10 more. Find the number of beggars and also find what each received? [ans: 40 beggars, Tk.30]

6) A certain fraction becomes 2 when 1 is subtracted from its denominator, and 1 when 7 is added to its numerator.

7) A goods train travelled from A to B at a uniform rate. If the speed has been 8 km/h more, it would have taken
2 hours less to reach B, but if she speed has been 8 km/h less, it would have taken 4 hours more. Find the distance
between A and B.[ans:192 km]

8) Two men ran from A to B, a distance of 12 km and the first arrived an hour earlier than the second. They then
ran from B to A, the first giving the second a start of 3 km and arrived at the same time. Find their speed.
[ans: 4 km/h. 3 km/h]
