3.7. Lift

INFORMATION!

In case of an emergency concerning the lift, see Chapter 19. Emergency situations.

Picture 3-13 shows an overview of the lift.


The EG certificate of the lift is included in the Crane’s Logbook.

3.7.1. Entering/leaving lift cage


For entering and leaving the lift cage, the following procedures must be followed.

PROCEDURE: Entering lift cage

1. Slew the crane by using the remote control to a safe boarding point;
2. Operate switch slewing brake to prevent undesired slewing (e.g. slewing by side wind) while
boarding the lift cage;
3. Switch the crane control to crane control from the crane cab:
- Turn the switch remote control/crane control from the crane cab to the right;

4. Lock the electrical cabinet, control panels and toolboxes of the truck, using the general key;

5. Turn off the remote control and put it in the truck cab;
6. Lock the truck cab by using the door key;

7. Enter the superstructure;


8. Slide the roof hatch of the lift cage to the top side;
9. Enter the lift cage.

PROCEDURE: Leaving lift cage

1. Slide the roof hatch of the lift cage to the top side;
2. Operate switch slewing left (see Picture 3-14, D) or switch slewing right (F) to slew the crane
to a safe alighting point;
3. Operate switch slewing brake to prevent undesired slewing (e.g. slewing by side wind) while
leaving the lift cage;
4. Leave the lift cage.

CAUTION!
Changes and typographical errors reserved.

It is not allowed to keep parts of the body outside the lift cage while the cage is
moving;
It is not allowed to be within the range of the lift cage while the cage is moving;
It is not allowed to enter the lift cage by more than one person.
The maximum load is secured to 120 kg.

3.7.2. Control panel lift
The control panel lift (Picture 3-14) is situated in the lift cage.

A. Switch lift up:


Operate switch lift up to go up with the lift cage;
B. Emergency switch lift stop:
Operate emergency switch lift stop to disable all lift functions.
For releasing the emergency switch lift stop, the emergency stop must be turned to the right;
C. Switch lift down:
Operate switch lift down to go down with the lift cage;
D. Switch slew left:
Operate switch slew left to slew the crane to the left;
E. Switch slewing brake:
Operate switch slewing brake to activate the slewing brake;
F. Switch slew right:
Operate switch slew right to slew the crane to the right;
G. Switch emergency lowering:
The ignition of the crane must be turned on.

Operate switch emergency lowering to go down with the lift cage, if the normal lift control is
not functioning;
H. Instruction at intervention safety line device:
If the safety line device has intervened, the lift cage must be left via the lift guiding, which is
implemented as a ladder.
On the control panel lift the emergency procedure is shown.

CAUTION!

The malfunction causing the safety line device to interrupt, must be


resolved as soon as possible.

3.7.3. Emergency control lift

CAUTION!

The emergency control lift may only be used in case of an emergency, for
instructions or when there is no one in the crane cab.

CAUTION!

Under normal operating conditions, there may be no key present in key switch
emergency control lift up/down (see Picture 3-15).

In case of an emergency, see Chapter 19. Emergency situations.

Enabling emergency control lift


1. Insert the key in the key switch emergency control lift on/off;

2. Switch on the emergency control lift:


- Turn key switch emergency control lift on/off to the right (position I).

Lift up
1. Remove the key from key switch emergency control lift on/off and insert the key in key switch
emergency control lift up/down;
2. Send the lift upwards:
- Turn key switch emergency control lift up/down to the right:
The lift starts to move immediately;
Keep the key switch emergency control lift up/down to the right till the lift is upstairs
and automatically stopped.

Lift down
1. Remove the key from key switch emergency control lift on/off and insert the key in key switch
emergency control lift up/down;
2. Send the lift downwards:
- Turn key switch emergency control lift up/down to the left:
The lift starts to move immediately;
Keep the key switch emergency control lift up/down to the left till the lift is
downstairs and automatically stopped.

Disabling emergency control lift


1. Remove the key from key switch emergency control lift up/down and insert the key in key
switch emergency control lift on/off;
2. Turn off the emergency control lift:
- Turn key switch emergency control lift on/off to the left (position 0);
- The lift can be normally operated.

3.7.4. Controlling lift for instruction purposes


Only in case of an instruction, a competent person (instructor) may use the emergency control lift to
bring the crane operator (to be instructed) and himself upstairs.
The instructor must carry out the following steps:
1. First the crane operator (to be instructed) goes up to the crane cab according to the normal
procedure;
2. Then the crane operator turns on the intercom (see § 7.9. Intercom);
3. The instructor must be sure that the crane operator remains sitting in the seat of the crane cab
by using the intercom;
4. The instructor also indicates via the intercom that the lift is no longer under the crane cab,
before he brings down the lift by using the emergency control lift;
5. When leaving the crane cab, first the instructor should leave the cab. The crane operator must
remain sitting in his seat, till the instructor indicates via the intercom that the lift is back under

the crane cab. The crane operator can then leave the crane cab according to the normal
procedure.

3.7.5. Emergency lowering button lift

CAUTION!

The emergency lowering button of the lift must only be used in case the lift is
upstairs and not responding to normal operation!

Before pressing the emergency lowering button, check if the lift rope/guides show
no deviations.

Keep the emergency lowering button pressed till the lift is entirely downstairs.
Releasing the button may only be carried out 2 to 3 times at most, because after
that the brake is permanently stuck!

The emergency lowering button G (see Picture 3-5) switches the hydraulic valves in such a way that
the lift slowly lowers. The brake of the lift drum is also released by an accumulator.
Releasing the brake may only be carried out 2 to 3 times at most, because after that the brake is
permanently stuck!

The emergency lowering button functions only if there is electrical power on the valves. The ignition of
the crane must be turned on and there must be battery voltage. If the diesel engine of the crane is
running, there is also voltage on the valves.

If the emergency lowering button is not working or the lift rope/lift is stuck, the lift must be abandoned
according to § 3.7.6. Emergency exit lift.

CAUTION!

Immediately after operating the emergency lowering button, the malfunction must
be resolved!

3.7.6. Emergency exit lift
In the lift cage a harness is present, which must be put on in case the lift must be abandoned.
At an emergency stop, the following should be carried out (Picture 3-17):
1. Put on the harness (which is part of the rescue kit, see also § 3.7.7. Rescue kit);
2. Remove the roof hatch sideways;
3. Pull the chain of the spring of the
safety line upwards and unhook the
safety line (see Picture 3-16);

4. Attach the safety line hook to the harness;


5. Remove the R-clip of the emergency hatch of the lift;
6. Open the emergency hatch by standing on a rung and pulling the hatch upwards;
7. Now climb down the ladder;
8. Only loosen the hook of the safety line from the harness if the person is standing on the
ground.

3.7.7. Rescue kit


The rescue kit is situated in the lift cage and may be used in case of an emergency situation.

CAUTION!

Make sure the rescue kit is always complete and ready for use!

The rescue kit contents


1x Instruction card for emergency situations;
1x Harness (the harness certificate is included in the Crane’s Logbook);
1x Hammer;
1x Safety glasses;
1x Pair of gloves.

3.7.8. Safety line device lift


The safety line device lift is situated in the crane cab.

3.8. Accessing the crane cab
3.8.1. PROCEDURE: Accessing the crane cab
1. Enter the lift cage (see § 3.7.1. Entering/leaving lift cage);
2. Check if the content of the rescue kit is complete and ready for use (see § 3.7.7. Rescue kit):
- Make sure the rescue kit is ALWAYS complete and ready for use;
3. Operate switch lift up to move the lift upwards:
- Keep switch lift up pressed, till the lift cage is completely upwards and automatically
stopped;
4. Move the roof hatch of the lift cage sideways:
- Pull the hatch lightly upwards and move it aside;
5. Open the floor hatch crane cab by using the key hatch crane cab;

6. Enter the crane cab by means of the rungs of the lift cage and rungs against the back of the
cab;
7. Close the floor hatch crane cab.

3.8.2. PROCEDURE: Leaving crane cab


1. Open the floor hatch crane cab;
2. Before leaving the cab, check if the lift cage is directly below the crane cab
(see § 3.8.3. Lift indication crane cab);
3. Leave the cab by means of the rungs of the lift cage and rungs against the back of the cab;
4. Close the floor hatch crane cab by using key hatch crane cab;

5. Operate switch lift down to move the lift downwards:


- Keep switch lift down pressed, till the lift cage is completely downwards and
automatically stopped;
6. Leave the lift cage (see § 3.7.1.Entering/leaving lift cage).

3.8.3. Lift indication crane cab


The lift indication crane cab (Picture 3-18) shows whether the lift is directly below the cab.

A. Indicator lift up (green colour):


- The lift cage is directly below the crane cab:
It is safe to leave the crane cab;
B. Indicator lift down (red colour):
- The lift cage is not directly below the crane cab:
The floor hatch crane cab is locked (see § 3.8.4. Floor hatch crane cab);
It is not allowed to leave the crane cab, except in case of an emergency
(see Chapter 19. Emergency situations);
The beeper becomes active (see § 3.11.2. Beeper).

3.8.4. Floor hatch crane cabin


The floor hatch of the crane cab is equipped with a lock and can be opened and locked by using the
key hatch crane cab.

Electric lock
The floor hatch of the crane cab is also equipped with an electric lock (Picture 3-19).
The electric lock closes automatically when:
The lift is not directly below the crane cab;
The power of the crane fails.

The electric lock can be opened at any time by using a pointed object:
- For example, use the key from key switch start diesel engine to open the electric lock in case of
an emergency.

CAUTION!

If the electric lock is opened by using a pointed object, the lift may NOT be directly
below the crane cab!
